The American League playoff race is heating up and tightening by the day. We have on deck a meaningful matchup in the Central division as the Kansas City Royals will host the surging Detroit Tigers, so we worked up an ultimate same-game parlay for the action.
Valued at +1000, let’s ride!
Leg 1: Tigers ML
The Detroit Tigers are arguably the hottest team in the entire American League, and they are doing it with guys that most baseball fans have never heard of. However, tonight, they’ll see someone they have heard of as presumptive AL Cy Young award winner Tarik Skubal takes the mound. As one of baseball’s best pitchers, we’re comfortable backing him in any setting regardless of opponent, so having a hot offense behind him is a bonus.
Leg 2: Tarik Skubal 6+ Strikeouts
This season, Tarik Skubal has struck out at least six batters in 26 of his 29 starts. What else is there to ask for?
Leg 3: Parker Meadows 2+ Total Bases
Parker Meadows has been the Tigers’ leadoff hitter when facing right-handed starting pitchers, and he’s recorded at least two total bases in eight of his last 12 games. We’re not too concerned about Alec Marsh tossing a gem for the Royals, so we have a ton of confidence that Meadows will have every opportunity to put up some great at-bats and give us two total bases.
Leg 4: Riley Greene 1+ Hit
Riley Greene has posted a .298 batting average thus far in September and has recorded a hit in seven of his last nine games leading into tonight. That’s good enough for us!

Leg 5: Kerry Carpenter 1+ Hit
Kerry Carpenter has posted a .305 batting average against right-handed pitchers and a .295 batting average on the road this season. With both variables in his favor tonight, we’ll ride with him!
Leg 6: Salvador Perez 1+ Hit
To close out our parlay, we’ll look to Salvador Perez to get us a hit, as he’s gone 10-27 at the plate for an absurd .370 batting average against Skubal. By comparison, Bobby Witt Jr., who seems to hit everybody, has gone just 3-22 in his career against Skubal. Plus, he’s recorded a hit in eight of nine games leading into tonight. Let’s ride!
