Leg 1: Phillies ML
After a rough stretch for the Phillies, they’ve gotten some of their swagger back as they’ve won three of their last four games, including taking two of three from the Los Angeles Dodgers this week. Simultaneously, the Diamondbacks have picked up steam and climbed the standings, most recently sweeping the then-MLB-leading Cleveland Guardians in Cleveland. However, while the D-Backs swept the double-header yesterday, they had to hop on a cross-country flight and now have to play tonight without any time to rest. After an emotional high, this is a prime letdown spot for them, so we’ll look for the Phils to win tonight.
Leg 2: Kyle Schwarber 2+ Total Bases
When Kyle Schwarber is hot, no one is better and more dangerous at the plate than he is. Last night, we saw that in full effect as he launched three home runs and combined for seven RBIs to lead the Phillies to a convincing win. He gets to face a struggling lefty in Jordan Montgomery tonight, and contrary to popular belief, Schwarber has been destroying left-handed pitchers as he sports a .340 batting average on the season against lefties. After he recorded 14 total bases last night, we hope he can get us just two tonight.
Leg 3: Trea Turner 2+ Total Bases
After some recent struggles, Trea Turner is beginning to get back into a rhythm at the plate as he had a two-hit showing last night. Opposing right-handed hitters are batting .330 this season against Jordan Montgomery, so we expect Turner to capitalize on the matchup advantage.
Leg 4: Nick Castellanos 1+ Hit
Nick Castellanos has had three straight games of at least two hits entering tonight’s matchup, and we’ll fade Jordan Montgomery every chance we get tonight. Castellanos is one of the more streaky hitters in the game, so we’ll undoubtedly back him here, given his recent success and his matchup against a pitcher who has shown an inability to get right-handed hitters out.
Leg 5: Ketel Marte 2+ Total Bases
The Phillies will be throwing out a lefty tonight as well in Kolby Allard, and Ketel Marte sports a .360 batting average against left-handed pitching this season. He’s recorded at least two total bases in 11 of his last 15 games, so what more is there to ask for here?
