Leg 1: Brewers ML
The Brewers are just 2.5 games back from the Dodgers in the NL standings, and after the Dodgers took the series opener last night, we like their chances to put together a resilient bounce-back performance tonight. They’ll throw Colin Rea on the mound, and in his previous seven starts, the Brewers have gone 6-1. Rea has held opponents to two earned runs or fewer in six of seven starts. On the other side, as potent as the Dodgers can be offensively, especially with the return of Mookie Betts, they’ve gone just 1-5 across Gavin Stone’s last six starts.
Leg 2: Colin Rea 4+ Strikeouts
Colin Rea has struck out at least four batters in six of his last seven starts. While the Dodgers have struck out at roughly a league-average rate across the previous two weeks, we like the upside of Rea’s potential innings to give us every opportunity to reach the four-strikeout threshold.
Leg 3: William Contreras 2+ Total Bases
William Contreras has been one of baseball’s most underrated hitters this season, so we’ll look for him to lead the Brewers’ offensive charge against a struggling Stone for at least two total bases, as he’s done in six of his last ten games. He’s fresh off launching a home run and a double last night, giving us the confidence he can keep swinging a hot bat.
Leg 4: Jackson Chourio 1+ Hit
Sometimes, you must have faith in the rookie, and we like what Jackson Chourio has recently brought to this Brewers’ lineup. He’s elevated up the lineup to batting second in recent games and sports a .318 batting average in August thus far, so we’ll count on him to get us a hit.
Leg 5: Mookie Betts 1+ Hit
Mookie Betts returned to the Dodgers’ lineup last night as he went 2-4 with a home run and three RBI. We like his bat to produce a hit tonight, but let’s hope he pokes a meaningless single.
