Leg 1: Tigers ML
Cleveland may be tied for the best record in the American League, but they’ve struggled recently. They’ve lost seven of their ten games as their bats have gone cold, while the starting rotation has regressed a bit. On the other hand, Detroit has won seven of their last ten games, including five of nine games against the Guardians this season. They’ll have Jack Flaherty on the mound tonight, who has been one of the American League’s most underrated pitchers this season with a 3.13 ERA and a sub-1.00 WHIP. The Tigers are playing more confident baseball with the better pitcher on the mound, so they’ll have our backing tonight at plus-money.
Leg 2: Jack Flaherty 5+ Strikeouts
Jack Flaherty has struck out at least five batters in 15 of 17 starts this season, and while the Guardians collectively strike out at a below-average rate, Flaherty has earned our trust amidst the Guardians’ recent struggles.
Leg 3: Matt Vierling 1+ Hit
Matt Vierling has recorded at least a single hit in nine of his last eleven games, and after going hitless last night, we’ll look for Vierling to bounce back as he hasn’t gone consecutive games without a hit in over a month.
Leg 4: Riley Greene 1+ Hit
Riley Greene sports a .344 batting average in July and now faces the righty in Tanner Bibee for an optimal matchup. He’s had a hit in eight of his last ten games, so we’ll trust the hot batter here tonight.
Leg 5: Colt Keith 1+ Hit
Colt Keith is batting .328 in July, and he’s recorded at least a single hit in 13 of his last 15 games with multiple at-bats. That’s good enough for me!
Leg 6: Josh Naylor 1+ Hit
We will ride with Josh Naylor for the Guardians side of our SGP, as he’s gone 3-5 in his career against Flaherty. Naylor only has recorded a single hit since returning from the All-Star break, so we’ll back the due hitter here.
