Since taking over as New York Knicks President of Basketball Operations in March 2020, Leon Rose has overseen several drafts, resulting in hits and misses along the way.
Here’s a look at Rose’s selections ranked from least to most impactful.
7) Trevor Keels (2022, 42nd Overall)
A former five-star recruit, shooting guard Trevor Keels spent most of his Knicks tenure in the G League and was waived by the organization last July.
6) Rokas Jokubaitis (2021, 34th Overall)
Point guard Rokas Jokubaitis remains a bit of a mystery as he continues to develop overseas. The 23-year-old has performed well with FC Barcelona and is expected to participate in this year’s Summer League, aiming to jump to the NBA.
5) Jericho Sims (2021, 58th Overall)
Steady playing time has been challenging, but Jericho Sims typically provides solid energy and rebounding when given the opportunity.
4) Obi Toppin (2020, 8th Overall)
A member of the Knicks for three seasons, Obi Toppin showed flashes of his athleticism and scoring ability but struggled to find a consistent role under head coach Tom Thibodeau. Dealt to Indiana before the 2023-24 campaign, Toppin emerged as a key reserve for the Pacers, particularly during their run to the Eastern Conference Finals, averaging 10.9 PPG in 20.2 MPG.
3) Quentin Grimes (2021, 25th Overall)
Quentin Grimes developed into a reliable three-and-D player and starter. Still, his role declined this past season, and he was ultimately dealt to the Detroit Pistons for Alec Burks and Bojan Bogdanovic.
2) Miles McBride (2021, 36th Overall)
The trade of guards RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley allowed Miles “Deuce" McBride to earn consistent minutes this past season. Already a solid defender, McBride made strides offensively, shooting 45.2% from the field, including 41.0% from three-point range. He should continue to be a fixture in New York’s rotation.
1) Immanuel Quickley (2020, 25th Overall)
Quickley was a key contributor during his three and a half years in the Big Apple, providing immediate scoring off the bench and developing into one of the NBA’s elite sixth men. Now in Toronto, his on-court performance proved instrumental in facilitating the deal that brought OG Anunoby to New York.
