5 Best Bets for College Basketball Wednesday: Frenzy of Faves

South Florida (-6.5) @ UTSA
Nobody has found a way to stop South Florida in a long while, and we have a feeling it isn't going to be UTSA. The Bulls are fresh off a thrilling win over Florida Atlantic on Sunday and possess the nation's third-longest active win streak at 11 games. They already have a 17-point win over the Roadrunners from earlier in the season, where nearly hung 90 on their porous defense. USF's team total is certainly worth a look here, and we're confident they will be ready to take care of business on the road here with a shorter spread than we expected.
Georgia Tech (+8.5) vs. Clemson
Both teams have had some puzzling results that have gone completely against their typical performances all season long. For Georgia Tech, it's been a largely disappointing season that has been littered with some inspiring performances. They have already won games against Duke, Mississippi State, Clemson, and North Carolina despite being 11-15 overall. As for Clemson, stunning losses to North Carolina State, Memphis, Miami, and this Georgia Tech team have plagued them a handful of times this season. It's a fair amount of points, and we're hoping that the Yellow Jackets will be geared up at home for Wednesday night.
St. John's (-9.5) @ Georgetown
This is a pure motivational spot. It's clear St. John's head coach Rick Pitino was looking to light a fire under some of his star players after calling them out by name for some of their deficiencies following Sunday's defeat to Seton Hall. It doesn't get much easier for a bounce back than getting to play Georgetown, and we're willing to bet that some of these players have a thing or two to prove to their head coach against a lesser opponent. We'll back the Johnnies against this punching-bag Georgetown team.
Indiana (-1.5) vs. Nebraska
Nebraska has done so much of its heavy lifting with its predictive metrics at Pinnacle Bank Arena this season. The Cornhuskers are a dominant 16-1 at home this season, while they are a dreadful 1-7 in road games on the year. It's a stark dichotomy that makes them look like a different team on the road, and Assembly Hall is not the place you want to be if you are struggling in road atmospheres. The Hoosiers aren't the most reliant team to back, but this spot is where you just have to lay the points based on the opponent's track record.
Mississippi State (-6.5) vs. Ole Miss
It was fun, Ole Miss. It was fun to have you in our bracket projections every week despite horrid predictive metrics and to pretend you had any chance at making the NCAA Tournament. Unfortunately, that run of fun comes to an end on Wednesday night when they take on rival Mississippi State in a mammoth bubble matchup. The Bulldogs will be seeking revenge after falling in Oxford just a few weeks back in a close one, and we think they will get it against a Rebels team that has tapered off a bit recently, dropping three of their past four.
