Ryan Day Reflects on Ohio State Players' Contributions and Futures
Ohio State's coach Ryan Day recently shared his thoughts on player Caleb Downs, emphasizing not just his on-field performance but also his significant contributions off the field. According to Day, Downs has been a tremendous asset to the program and has left a lasting impact that Day personally feels indebted to.
Day noted that Downs, known for his serious and business-like approach from his very first day, did not end the season as he had hoped. Despite this, his overall influence extends beyond the game. Day praised Downs for his ability to engage in mature conversations and highlighted his role in teaching younger players professional standards.
Furthermore, Day mentioned other players who are set to leave the program, such as Arvell, Sonny, Carnell Tate, and Will Kaserrick, acknowledging their contributions and expressing a sense of loss. He also pointed out a standout senior, referred to as IGB, who brought a unique energy and physicality to the team, particularly noting his improvement over the previous season.
Day also touched on the future, stating that with the year drawing to a close and the team not heading to a semifinal, the focus must now shift towards preparing for the 2026 season and integrating new players into the program.
