10) S Kyle Dugger, New England Patriots
Kyle Dugger may be one of the biggest names to monitor as rumors swirled that the Patriots have been exploring potential trades for the former second-round pick. If a trade doesn't come to fruition, the expectation is that New England will cut the safety and move on from the 29-year-old.
1) WR Kendrick Bourne, New England Patriots
Kendrick Bourne is a veteran wideout who could find himself on the outside looking in as roster cuts begin. The New England Patriots' playmaker has served as a capable pass catcher for the Pats over the last few seasons. Still, the struggle to stay healthy over the last couple of seasons has impacted his reliability, especially with a new head coach, Mike Vrabel, leading the way. With an abundance of new weapons on the offense, Bourne could be looking for a new team shortly.
2) QB Taylor Heinicke, Los Angeles Chargers
The Los Angeles Chargers signed Taylor Heinicke to be insurance for Justin Herbert this coming season. Still, after former top-three pick Trey Lance shone in preseason, Jim Harbaugh may be more intrigued by keeping the younger and higher-upside option on the roster. Heinicke could very well be let go when the 53-man roster cuts begin, but as a reliable backup, he'd likely find a new team quickly.
3) IOL Cole Strange, New England Patriots
Another Patriots roster cut casualty could be offensive lineman Cole Strange. After New England declined his fifth-year option, the writing was on the wall for the lineman to have to play himself into favor with the new staff. However, after losing the starting job battle in addition to an injury-riddled career up to this point, Strange's time in Foxboro may be nearing an end.
4) QB Tommy DeVito, New York Giants
Tommy DeVito was a fun story to cover for a while, but in reality, the New York Giants quarterback hasn't done enough to ensure protection for his spot on the team. In a loaded quarterback room, it would be genuinely surprising to see head coach Brian Daboll keep four quarterbacks, and even more shocking to see DeVito be one of the three remaining quarterbacks.
5) WR Hunter Renfrow, Carolina Panthers
Hunter Renfrow once looked poised to be a star for the Las Vegas Raiders, but after falling out of favor during Josh McDaniels's tenure as head coach in Vegas, the former Clemson standout's career seemingly went downhill. After time out of the league, the wideout got a chance to compete for a roster spot with the Carolina Panthers this offseason. However, the reality is that Renfrow hasn't done enough to secure his place on the roster, and in what has become a surprisingly talented wide receiver room, Dave Canales will have a tough decision to make.
6) CB C.J. Henderson, Atlanta Falcons
C.J. Henderson is a former first-round talent whose career just simply hasn't panned out the way it was expected. The corner earned an opportunity to compete for a roster spot with the Atlanta Falcons this offseason, but it was primarily due to the need for bodies in the defensive back room. With the Falcons expected to trim their roster to size soon, Henderson could be the odd man out.
7) WR Diontae Johnson, Cleveland Browns
Diontae Johnson made a successful career for himself in Pittsburgh, where he made a reputation for himself as one of the best route runners in the league. However, off-field issues have taken his career from promising to troublesome, and now, with his play seemingly declining, it's challenging for any team to vouch for him to make the roster. That said, it won't be a shock to see Johnson searching for a new team soon.
8) WR Van Jefferson, Tennessee Titans
Van Jefferson is doing everything he can to keep his NFL career alive, but his mistakes during training camp and preseason with the Tennessee Titans could hinder him from doing that, at least in Nashville. The Florida product has the talent, but he's struggled to put it together thus far, and patience is running thin for NFL teams.
9) CB Adoree' Jackson, Philadelphia Eagles
Adoree' Jackson signed to compete for a starting spot with the Philadelphia Eagles this offseason. While he has performed well, the fact of the matter is that he's the oldest defender in the secondary room, and he hasn't separated himself enough from the younger playmakers to secure his roster spot. Don't be surprised if Jackson isn't on the Eagles' 53-man roster.
