5 NFL Coaches on the Hot Seat Most Likely to Be Fired First

The NFL season is spiraling out of control for several franchises, meaning several head coaches could find themselves on the chopping block.
Which five head coaches are most likely to lose their jobs before the end of the season?
1. Mike McDaniel
Odds to be Fired: +335
How Mike McDaniel still has a job is beyond me. The Miami Dolphins have been one of the most frustrating franchises to watch over the past few years, as they perpetually underachieve. Granted, McDaniel’s tenure as Dolphins head coach got off to a promising start. But now sitting at 2-7 in 2025, there’s no rational explanation as to why McDaniel still has a job. The odds-on favorite to lose his gig, we would be shocked if McDaniel is employed beyond this week.
2. Jonathan Gannon
Odds to be Fired: +488
Like the Dolphins, the Arizona Cardinals have ranked among the bottom-tier NFL teams for the past few seasons. Most of their struggles are to be attributed to Jonathan Gannon’s ineffective game-planning as head coach. Despite their plethora of offensive stars, the Cardinals have failed to maximize their offensive production. Eventually, Cardinals fans won’t have to bang their heads against the wall, as Gannon’s time as head coach will ultimately come to an end.
3. Aaron Glenn
Odds to be Fired: +809
Aaron Glenn deserves better, as do all New York Jets fans. But here the Jets are again, dealing away every movable piece at the deadline in favor of draft capital. That means Glenn and the remaining Jets will be left picking up the pieces with a roster that’s less than ideal. Worse, this isn’t a franchise that has shown the ability to develop players, meaning sacrificing the season could all be for naught. I suppose at least some of that falls on Glenn’s shoulders.
4. Kevin Stefanski
Odds to be Fired: +900
Kevin Stefanski’s shelf life as the Cleveland Browns head coach is coming to an end. While he deserves credit for the franchise’s early success, the Browns have been trending in the opposite direction since trading for Deshaun Watson. Without a clear plan forward, it’s becoming increasingly evident that the Browns need to tear it all down and start from scratch.
5. Kellen Moore
Odds to be Fired: +1329
For years, Kellen Moore was touted as the top football mind who was not in a head coaching position. Despite multiple opportunities with seemingly better franchises, he elected to roll the dice on moving to the New Orleans Saints. As we’ve seen, that has been the wrong choice. Moore has cycled through quarterbacks, but has yet to find the signal-caller to lead this team. That’s analogous to his decision-making overall, suggesting he may be better suited for an offensive coordinator role.
