MLB AL Odds Power Rankings: Rays Bump Astros From Top Spot

Zachary Cook

The Tampa Bay Rays are still the class of the American League, while New York’s odds to win the Pennant continue to drop off.

Below are the top ten favorites to win the American League from the FanDuel Sportsbook.

1. Tampa Bay Rays +330 (Last week: +330)

It wasn’t an uber-productive last week for the Tampa Bay Rays, but that doesn’t change the fact that they now hold the best odds to win the American League. Their odds haven’t fluctuated, but they sit with the shortest to win the Pennant at +330.

2. Houston Astros +350 (Last week: +300)

There have been signs of life from the defending World Series champs of late, where they’ve picked up two straight wins and have a 6-4 record over their last ten. Still, the Astros no longer sit with the best odds to win the American League after dropping from +300 to +350.

3. Toronto Blue Jays +550 (Last week: 600)

Despite the Toronto Blue Jays’ winning streak getting snapped by the New York Yankees on Monday, there are still a lot of positives surrounding the club. Before their lost to New York, Toronto swept the Atlanta Braves on the weekend. The Blue Jays saw their American League odds bet down from +600 to +550.

4. New York Yankees +700 (Last week: +650)

The New York Yankees’ demise might have been premature. Even though they’ve once again seen their odds to win the American League drop from +650 to +700, the Bronx Bombers are 7-3 over their last ten and are quietly playing some good baseball.

5. Minnesota Twins +800 (Last week: +850)

One team that may be worthy of being bullish is the Minnesota Twins, who occupy the top spot in the AL Central at 23-19. The Twins have a +42 run differential.

6. Los Angeles Angels +1200 (Last week: +1400)

Even though the Los Angeles Angels sit at a less-than-stellar 4-6 over their last ten games, they’ve still managed to see their odds jump over that period. They’ve gone from +1400 to +1200 to win the AL.

7. Texas Rangers +1300 (Last week: +1400)

It’s been an impressive first month and a half for the Texas Rangers, who’ve posted a strong 25-16 record to lead the AL West. With each passing victory, the Rangers are considered a real potential playoff team, which has led to their American League odds bet down from +1400 to +1300.

8. Seattle Mariners +1600 (Last week: +1600)

The Seattle Mariners find themselves over .500 and are quietly getting back into the playoff picture in the American League. The M’s continue to boast +1600 odds to win the AL. This price is something bettors should keep an eye on.

9. Cleveland Guardians +2500 (Last week: +2500)

Two straight victories for the Cleveland Guardians are nice, but their -23 run differential certainly isn’t. Can their pitching staff get back to the form we saw last year? Their +2500 odds to win the Pennant aren’t don’t scream optimism.

10. Boston Red Sox +3000 (Last week: Unranked in Top Ten)

Interestingly, the Boston Red Sox are back inside the top ten despite having trouble last weekend when the St. Louis Cardinals swept them. Still, oddsmakers are giving a sliver of hope to this Red Sox team, who own +3000 odds to win the AL.
