NHL All-Star Skills Competition Best Bets
Outright Winner
The NHL All-Star skills competition will feature six events, with players competing in various contests. Connor McDavid and Cale Makar are the odds-on favorite to win the skills competition at +750. Auston Matthews is listed at +1000, along with teammate William Nylander at +1100. McDavid is the complete package of skills, meaning it’s hard to look anywhere else, but if you do, Elias Pettersson has some value at +900.Â
Fastest Skater
Yes, it’s a skills competition, and anything can happen, but we’d be surprised if Connor McDavid or Mathew Barzal didn’t win this event. McDavid is listed at +120, followed by Barzal at +220. Either of these players would be a great selection.Â
Accuracy Shooting
Auston Matthews will want to put on a show in this event and isn’t listed as the favorite. Take the value where you can get it and back Matthews at +700.Â
Hardest Shot
Elias Pettersson is the favorite at +175. Call it a hunch, but we like the upset. David Pastrnak has the longest odds at +650, and there’s value to be had here.Â
NHL All-Star Game Best Bets
Team Matthews is a slight favorite at +250, but all four teams are listed between +250 and +285.Â
NHL All-Star Game Winning Team
It’s hard to know precisely what to value in a 3-on-3 All-Star Game, but we’re going in the direction of where the game is today. Speed and skill are the two most significant factors; one team stands out in that department. Team Matthews might be the favorite, and we’re seeing why. If you’re judging the four teams on how they were drafted on Thursday, the mix of speed and skill on Team Matthews them a notch above the other three rosters. With the prices on each team being similar, we’ll side with the team full of Toronto Maple Leafs at +250.Â
NHL All-Star Game MVP
Auston Matthews is the favorite to win NHL All-Star Game MVP at +750. Matthews remains the most prolific goal scorer in the NHL, but we’re looking for value elsewhere on the board, not that that’s a bad price. Nathan MacKinnon has a strong price at +1000, but we’re looking in another direction in that price range. Since we like Team Matthews to win the event, we’re siding with the value that William Nylander presents. His skill set is perfect for this format, and his price is excellent at +1000.Â
