Toronto Blue Jays vs. Boston Red Sox Spread, Line, Odds, Predictions, Picks and Betting Preview

Blue Jays @ Red Sox – First Pitch: 7:10 p.m.

Expected Forecast: Light Rain, 50°

The Blue Jays and Red Sox face off following yesterday’s game, where the teams combined for a whopping 13 runs. With Alek Manoah on the mound, Toronto is coming in as a -144 favorite, while the Red Sox have Nick Pivetta pitching. With a total set at 9.5, it’s no surprise that runs are expected to be abundant.

Despite Manoah’s presence on the mound, the Red Sox’s bats are predicted to make some noise. Manoah’s disastrous 6.21 ERA might look concerning, but his splits show a different story: a .314 weighted on-base percentage (wOBA) against lefties and .308 against righties. Iso power numbers of .145 and .104, respectively, indicate that he’s holding his own.

On the other side, Pérez has been a model of consistency this season, providing solid innings without burning out the bullpen. He’s pitched at least five innings and recorded five or more strikeouts in four of his last five starts. However, Pérez’s high xFIP and the fact that both lefty and righty batters have found success against him means it’s likely that the Blue Jays will also put up some runs.

With both pitchers displaying vulnerabilities, a first five over bet seems enticing. After the sixth inning, the bullpens will likely be called upon to save the day, and the crucial question will be: which bullpen do you trust more?

In this small ballpark, it’s safe to say that the stage is set for an exciting, run-heavy game between the Blue Jays and the Red Sox.
