Coastal Carolina didn’t just beat Auburn—they owned the weekend and the headlines. The “Cinderella” label doesn’t cut it anymore. This program has pedigree, pitching, and power—and they showed it all in a statement Super Regional sweep.
In the opener, Cameron Flukey battled through five innings despite lacking his sharpest stuff, surrendering three earned. That didn’t matter. Caden Bodine and Blagen Pado each homered twice—the first time a pair of Chanticleers have done so in a game since 2016. Coastal powered its way to a 7-6 extra-innings win, thanks to Bodine’s heroic 10th-inning solo blast, snapping his homer drought in the biggest moment of the year.
After a lightning delay and a back-and-forth affair, Bodine's bat—and glove—stood out above all.
Game 2? Pure control. Jacob Morrison tossed six innings of one-run ball with six Ks, and Hayden Johnson shut the door with three scoreless innings in relief. Offensively, Walker Mitchell stayed hot, posting a 3-for-5 day and delivering the go-ahead single. Sebastian Alexander led off with two doubles, three hits, two runs, and a walk—setting the tone.
Now riding a 23-game win streak, Coastal Carolina is the hottest team in the nation entering Omaha. Forget underdog. This is a title contender.
