Kenan and the King of Kung Fu
Unranked welterweights Song Kenan and Muslim Salikhov face off, looking to raise their stocks. Song is fresh off a decision win over Ricky Glenn in August but is 2-3 over his last five fights. Salikhov is also coming off a win but lost his two previous bouts before that.
Song is an inch taller and has a 1.5-inch reach advantage. Song will have a power edge and lands 1.25 more significant strikes per minute. However, he absorbs 5.84 significant strikes per minute, 2.92 more than Salikhov. The Russian will have a takedown advantage, averaging 0.69 more per 15 minutes.
Salikhov turned 40 in June, but there should still be enough in the tank to pull off the win at -192.
Baby Shark Fury
No. 2 ranked women’s strawweight Yan “Fury" Xiaonan faces No. 10 Tabatha “Baby Shark" Ricci. Yan lost to Zhang Weili in April but beat Jessica Andrade and Mackenzie Dern entering into that fight. Ricci is riding a two-fight win streak, beating Angela Hill and Tecia Pennington.
Yan is four inches taller and has a two-inch reach advantage. Yan lands 0.34 more significant strikes per minute and absorbs 1.64 fewer. Ricci will probably look for takedowns, averaging 1.99 more per 15 minutes.
Expect Yan to piece Ricci up on the feet but fail to find the finish. Take Yan to win by decision at -105.
Heavyweight Championship Main Event
Petr Yan vs. Deiveson Figueiredo
- Odds to Win: Yan -320 | Figueiredo +245
- How Will Fight End: KO/TKO +155 | Submission +1000 | Decision -165
- Will the fight go the distance? Yes -172 | No +132
The former king of the division, Petr Yan, takes on No. 5 ranked Deiveson Figueiredo. Yan’s win over Song Yadong, but lost three in a row before that bout. Figueiredo is riding a three-fight win streak at bantamweight, berating Rob Font, Cody Garbrandt, and Marlon Vera.
Yan is two inches taller, but Figueiredo has a one-inch reach advantage. The pace of this fight will be interesting, with Yan averaging 5.15 significant strikes per minute and Figueiredo able to keep the pace of a flyweight. Both fighters average similar offensive takedown statistics, but Yan has a considerable edge in takedown defense. Of the two, Figueiredo will be likelier to chase a submission but will have difficulty keeping the fight grounded.
At -320, Yan is a significant favorite, but those odds are disrespectful to Figueiredo. I don’t feel strongly about either fighter winning, but I see this one going the distance at -172.
