Luis Gil delivered a stellar performance on Tuesday night, pitching six shutout innings of one-hit ball to secure his seventh consecutive victory. Giancarlo Stanton added to the Yankees’ firepower with a two-run homer, propelling New York to a 5-1 triumph over the Minnesota Twins. This win extended the Yankees’ winning streak to six games.

Aaron Judge contributed with a crucial two-run double, while Gleyber Torres homered early with a 349-foot drive.

Returning to Yankee Stadium after a successful 7-2 road trip through three California cities, the American League East leaders continued their hot streak, winning 17 of their last 21 games. This impressive run has tied them with Philadelphia for the best record in the majors at 43-19.

“We’ve got just one plan, and that’s to win everything," Torres said, reflecting the team’s confident mindset.

The Yankees’ dominance over the Twins has been remarkable. Since 2002, New York has amassed a 105-42 record against Minnesota, the best record for any team against a single opponent within the same league during that period. Last month, the Yankees outscored the Twins 14-1 in Minnesota, achieving back-to-back shutouts to complete a three-game sweep. The Twins managed only one run this time, a solo homer from Royce Lewis, who was returning from a 58-game injury hiatus.

Luis Gil has been exceptional, boasting a 0.60 ERA over his last seven outings. He has become the first pitcher in Yankees history to throw at least six innings and allow no more than one run in seven consecutive starts.

“It’s just hard to get a hit off him," Yankees manager Aaron Boone praised. “His stuff really plays. You know, that fastball is real. The hitters show you that every time."

The powerful trio of Stanton, Judge, and Juan Soto have each reached 15 home runs in the first 62 games of the season, a feat marking them as the first Yankees trio to achieve this milestone. The Yankees’ potent lineup and dominant pitching continue to fuel their success as they aim to maintain their position at the top of the standings.
