MLB SGP: +1000 Philadelphia Phillies @ Kansas City Royals

Ben DiGiacomo

Host · Writer

We have an intriguing inter-league matchup tonight as the Kansas City Royals will host the Philadelphia Phillies, so we worked up an ultimate same-game parlay for the action.

Valued at +1000, let’s ride!

Leg 1: Royals ML

The Royals have been one of baseball’s best home teams this year, but we don’t even care about that. What matters tonight is that Taijuan Walker will be on the mound for the Phillies, one of baseball’s worst starting pitchers. The Phils have lost seven straight games where Walker takes the mound, and the Royals’ batters should be pumped up to have the opportunity to tee off against the meatballs that Walker is about to serve up. The Royals will throw one of their more consistent starters on the mound, Michael Wacha, as they have won eight of their last nine games with him on the mound.

Leg 2: Michael Wacha 4+ Strikeouts

Michael Wacha isn’t someone we’d consider a “strikeout guy," but he’s struck out at least four batters in seven of his last ten starts and now gets to face a Phillies lineup that struck out 14 times last night. It sounds easy enough to me!

Leg 3: Bobby Witt Jr. 2+ Total Bases

This season, Bobby Witt Jr. owns a .404 batting average and a 1.182 OPS at home and now gets to face one of the league’s worst starting pitchers. Do we expect Bobby Witt Jr. not to record two total bases?

Leg 4: Vinnie Pasquantino 2+ Total Bases

Vinnie Pasquantino has been swinging a hot bat as he’s recorded at least two total bases in five of his last seven games, and he should have an excellent opportunity to tee off on Taijuan Walker in his home ballpark tonight.

Leg 5: Michael Massey 1+ Hit

To continue with our fade of Taijuan Walker, we’re hoping for Michael Massey to get us a hit out of the leadoff spot as he has sported a .320 batting average thus far in August and is a .290 hitter overall this season at home compared to just .232 on the road. Given how we expect tonight’s game to go, he could get five at-bats tonight, so we have no issue counting on him to get us just one.

Leg 6: JT Realmuto 1+ Hit

On the Phillies’ side, as the top of the Phillies’ order is going through a cold spell, we’ll look for JT Realmuto to record a hit for us, as he’s done so in eight of his last nine games. We’ll keep it as simple as that!
