MLB SGP: +1150 Cleveland Guardians @ New York Yankees

Game 1 of the American League Championship Series, featuring the New York Yankees and Cleveland Guardians, is set for tonight. It will be an excellent battle for both sides to jump out to a lead to start the series, so of course, we had to work up an ultimate same-game parlay for the action.

Valued at +1200! Let’s ride!

Leg 1: Juan Soto 2+ Total Bases

We’ll avoid taking a side here as we would rather root for some offense on both sides since we lack faith in Carlos Rodon and Alex Cobb. We’ll kick it off by touting Juan Soto to record at least two total bases. He’s only had one extra-base hit this postseason, but he’s gone a very impressive 7-11 at the plate against Cobb, including three extra-base hits. Soto has Cobb’s number, so we’ll leave it at that!

Leg 2: Gleyber Torres 1+ Hit

Gleyber Torres has been very effective as the Yankees’ leadoff hitter, as we saw him post a .333 batting average in September leading into the postseason. Thus far in October, he only has three hits across four games, but we’re looking to fade Cobb any chance we get tonight. Torres has gone 3-9 in his career against Cobb and will have the most opportunities to get a hit sitting in the leadoff spot and not getting walked like Judge and Soto, so we’ll count on him to get the job done.

Leg 3: Aaron Judge 1+ Hit

Aaron Judge has not had a particularly sharp postseason, going just 2-13 at the plate across four games, but I don’t see this postseason slump continuing. He knows the narrative around him about being an underperformer in the postseason, and the Yankees are now looking at their best chance of winning a World Series during his tenure. I can’t see him spoiling that, so we’ll look for him to get a hit against a pitcher who’s overmatched for the moment.

Leg 4: Steven Kwan 1+ Hit

To keep this simple, Steven Kwan has posted a .524 batting average across five postseason games, with three consecutive three-hit games leading into tonight. Rodon is not someone we have much faith in, as we just saw the Royals light him up in the ALDS. I expect Kwan to keep his hot bat alive, at least for a single hit tonight.

Leg 5: Lane Thomas 1+ Hit

The Guardians traded for Lane Thomas at the trade deadline solely to hit left-handed pitchers, and he did that in a big way in Game 5 as he hit a grand slam off Tarik Skubal, the best left-handed pitcher in baseball. He had a hit in four of five games in the ALDS and posted a .302 batting average in the regular season against left-handed pitchers. I expect him to get the best of Rodon in at least one at-bat.

Leg 6: Jose Ramirez 1+ Hit

We must trust Jose Ramirez to close out our parlay, right? While he just went 3-16 at the plate in the ALDS, he posted a .348 batting average against left-handed pitching during the regular season. This guy is one of the game’s most underrated stars, so I trust he can live up to the moment.
