Leg 1: Brewers ML
No one has been giving the Brewers an ounce of credit for their success this season, including myself at times, but they keep on winning. Even after losing Christian Yelich for the season, the Brewers are now just a game back of the Los Angeles Dodgers for the NL’s best record and are tied with the Philadelphia Phillies. Their starting rotation has been doing enough to get them to their shutdown bullpen, and the offense is consistent and clutch. What is there not to like? Tonight, they’ll have Tobias Myers on the mound, who has a 1.65 ERA over their last five starts compared to Kyle Gibson for the Cardinals, who isn’t the most trustworthy arm. The Brewers are the better team in all facets tonight, so we’ll tout them on the moneyline to extend their winning streak to seven games.
Leg 2: Tobias Myers 4+ Strikeouts
Tobias Myers has struck out at least four batters in six of his last eight starts, and in his previous outing against the Cardinals this season, he struck out six batters across four innings of work. While the Cardinals haven’t struck out at a high clip collectively recently, we’ll trust Myers’s recent success and previous outing against the Cardinals to get us just four strikeouts tonight.
Leg 3: Jackson Chourio 2+ Total Bases
In the wake of Yelich’s injury, their former top prospect, Jackson Chourio, will need to leap to stardom faster than most expected. He’s been cold over the past few games, but he’s been a better hitter on the road and against right-handed pitching statistically this season. He’s recorded at least two total bases in nine of the last 11 games where he’s had a hit. We hope his matchup against Gibson gives him an excellent opportunity to smack us an extra-base hit or multiple singles.
Leg 4: Brice Turang 1+ Hit
Brice Turang has recorded a hit in five of his last six games, and he has been better statistically on the road and against right-handed pitching.
Leg 5: Willy Adames 1+ Hit
Willy Adames has recorded a hit in nine of his last 12 games and has done well against Gibson in his career, going .385 against him. We need him to get us a single hit tonight, so that shouldn’t be too much to ask.
Leg 6: Brendan Donovan 1+ Hit
On the Cardinals’ side, Brendan Donovan has recorded a hit in five straight games and posted a .309 batting average in August thus far. That’s good enough for us!
