This week, we have a critical AL Central series between the Kansas City Royals and Cleveland Guardians, as the Royals now sit just a game back of the Guardians for the division lead after they swept yesterday’s doubleheader. Tonight has so much on the line for both teams, so we worked up an ultimate same-game parlay for the action.

Leg 1: Royals ML
We’ve been riding the Royals wave for quite a while now, and even considering that tonight’s game is a must-win for the Guardians, we love the Royals too much in this spot to stray away from them even as the underdog. The Royals will be throwing Michael Lorenzen on the mound, who is very respectable, but we have absolutely zero faith in Gavin Williams for the Guardians. He’s been brutal this year as the Guardians have gone just 3-7 with him on the mound this season, and he’s posted a 7.36 ERA across four starts in August. The Guardians bats are cold and have the far inferior pitcher on the mound, so we’ll confidently ride with the
Leg 2: Michael Lorenzen 3+ Strikeouts
Michael Lorenzen is by no means a strikeout guy and not someone we want to have a ton of faith in to rack up a ton of Ks, but he can get us three tonight. Earlier this season, he recorded four strikeouts across seven shutout innings of work against the Guardians, and he’s recorded at least three strikeouts in all four of his Royals’ starts.
Leg 3: Bobby Witt Jr. 2+ Total Bases
Do we have to explain our trust in Bobby Witt Jr. to record at least two total bases? Come on, this is Bobby Baseball we’re talking about. The dude is an absolute machine at the plate and churns out extra-base hits like it’s nothing. We’ll gladly tout him for at least two total bases tonight against a pitcher we’re looking to fade across the board.
Leg 4: Salvador Perez 1+ Hit
Salvador Perez is as reliable of a hitter as you can find in baseball, and he was hot yesterday at the dish as he combined for five hits across both games. Against a struggling pitcher, we’ll be okay with just one tonight.
Leg 5: Michael Massey 1+ Hit
To keep this simple, Michael Massey is posting a .345 batting average in August and will have a favorable matchup against Gavin Williams as a lefty. He better get us a hit.
Leg 6: Jose Ramirez 2+ Total Bases
When in doubt, we can always rely on Jose Ramirez, and he showed a ton of life yesterday despite the Guardians’ losing efforts, as he combined for four doubles across both games. Across J-Ram’s last 26 hits, 18 of them have been for extra bases, so we’ll count on him getting us a meaningless double tonight.
