The Thunder enter this matchup as the betting favorites, and considering their 24-point victory on Sunday, it’s easy to see why. However, before Oklahoma City’s 41-point fourth quarter, the battle between the two squads stayed fairly close until that point, as the Nuggets trailed by only three points entering the final stretch. Assuming head coach Michael Malone makes the needed adjustments, and his players enter this matchup looking to prove they can compete with the Thunder, I’ll take the odds that Denver keeps the margin of victory less than 10 points, even if they don’t pull out the win.

At their best, both of these squads can score points quickly. Each team has the firepower to score 120+ on a nightly basis, and I expect this game to come down to the wire as both teams put forth their best effort to end the series with a statement. A final score of 127-122 seems like a realistic outcome.

For the Nuggets to keep pace with the fast-paced Thunder, they’ll need their best players to put on a show. However, the big man can dominate the game at any time he chooses, and if he enters this matchup with the mindset that he needs to carry the load to get his team a win on the road, I wouldn’t be shocked if he ends the night as the team’s leading scorer with 30+ points.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander continues his MVP campaign against Denver fresh off a 40-point performance on Sunday. The Kentucky guard continues to prove why he’s arguably one of the most difficult players to defend in the league, and his willingness to shoot the ball from beyond the arc has only increased the headache for opposing defenders. On Sunday, the guard only shot 2-11 from three, but his ability to keep shooting regardless of the percentage gives me hope he’ll knock down 3+ threes this time around, especially if the Nuggets dare him to shoot like they did yesterday. Not to mention, Gilgeous-Alexander has made 3+ threes in four of his last five games.
