5. Baylor Bears
The future of Baylor’s basketball program is up in the air. There are rumors that head coach Scott Drew is a candidate for the Kentucky job and could be the favorite to land the position. If Drew heads to UK, where would Baylor turn? If Drew stays, they will have playing time for a transfer big man like Brandon Garrison, who the Bears recruited out of high school. His athleticism would fit Baylor’s uptempo system well, and his production would significantly jump from his freshman to sophomore campaigns. Baylor could be a darkhorse contender in his recruitment.

1. Ole Miss Rebels
Brandon Garrison, a 6’11” center who is a former McDonald’s All-American, has entered the transfer portal after one season at Oklahoma State. The Cowboys fired their head coach after another disappointing season. Garrison heads to the portal after averaging 7.5 points and 5.3 rebounds as he shot 57.2% from the field. The big man had three 20-point games in the Big 12, offering a glimpse of his potential moving forward. Chris Beard nearly had the Ole Miss Rebels in the NCAA Tournament in his first season in Oxford, and the Rebels could be a player for Garrison’s services. Beard was at Texas while recruiting Garrison out of Oklahoma City, and the Longhorns were one of Garrison’s finalists. Ole Miss struggled with interior play and could use a boost to the center position.

2. Texas Longhorns
If Brandon Garrison wanted to stay in the country's southwest, he could take a short trip to Austin and play for the Texas Longhorns. Current Texas head coach Rodney Terry was on Chris Beard’s staff and recruited Garrison, so a prior relationship is in place. Texas was only 164th in the country in rebounding margin during the 2023 season and will lose starting big man Dylan Disu this offseason. Garrison could develop into a player who hauls in 8+ rebounds per game and provides solid rim protection.

3. Arkansas Razorbacks
The coaching carousel seemed relatively calm as things entered Final Four weekend. Late on Sunday night, rumors surfaced of John Calipari looking at the Arkansas opening, and by the time the National Championship Game tipped off, the rumors had turned into reality. The former Kentucky Wildcats head coach believed his tenure in Lexington had grown stale, so he jumped to conference foe Arkansas and turned the sport on its head. It is unclear what direction Kentucky is going. Still, Calipari must fill out his roster in Fayetteville, and landing a talented big man like Brandon Garrison would be a good start.

4. Texas Tech Red Raiders
Grant McCasland did a terrific job in his first season in charge of the Texas Tech Red Raiders. Texas Tech made the NCAA Tournament but will likely lose starting center Warren Washington, creating a hole in the middle of their lineup. Brandon Garrison has been in the Oklahoma and Texas areas for most of his life and is obviously comfortable there. McCasland and Texas Tech could be a good fit if Garrison wants to stay in that area and play for a younger head coach (much like at Oklahoma State).
