2025 CFP National Championship: No. 1 Oregon vs. #2 Georgia
Result: No. 1 Oregon beats No. 2 Georgia
1 seed - No. 1 Oregon Ducks - Big Ten Champion
The Oregon Ducks remain the No. 1 team in the country and the No. 1 seed in this projected bracket. The Ducks went to Ann Arbor and waxed the Wolverines 38-17. Until garbage time, Michigan’s defense only managed one tackle for loss against the Ducks as Oregon racked up 470 yards to Michigan’s 270. Oregon has a soft schedule down the stretch and should waltz into the Big Ten Championship Game at 12-0. Oregon would need to win out and then win the Big Ten Championship Game to secure this No. 1 seed.
Week 11: Maryland at Oregon (-25.5)
2 seed - No. 2 Georgia Bulldogs - SEC Champion
As has been the case most of the season, Georgia was in a fight this past weekend, and there are some concerns about this team’s ability to string together good performances. Still, Georgia played well in the game’s final stretch and pulled away from Florida for a relatively comfortable win. The Bulldogs are projected to win the SEC but have a real test this week as they travel to take on a desperate Ole Miss team.
Week 11: Georgia (-2.5) at Ole Miss
3 seed - No. 4 Miami Hurricanes - ACC Champion
The Miami Hurricanes continue to look suspect on defense, but the offense is one of the nation’s best, and Cam Ward makes this a tough team to beat. Miami roared back against Duke and beat the Blue Devils 53-31 to improve to 9-0. In addition, Clemson lost to Louisville, and Pittsburgh lost to SMU, so the Hurricanes know they will be in the ACC Championship Game if they continue to win. The Hurricanes are up to No. 4 in the AP Poll and are the third seed in the bracket.
Week 11: Miami (-11.5) at Georgia Tech
4 seed - No. 9 BYU Cougars - Big 12 Champion
The BYU Cougars had the week off but were given a big boost as Iowa State fell from the unbeaten ranks. That gives BYU the clear inside track to reach the Big 12 Championship Game as the favorite to win the league and earn the automatic bid. BYU has moved up to No. 9 in the AP Poll. The Cougars face a tough test in Salt Lake City against rival Utah this weekend.
Week 11: BYU (-4.5) at Utah
12 seed - No. 12 Boise State at 5 seed - No. 3 Ohio State
The Ohio State Buckeyes are ranked third in both polls after a dramatic victory at Penn State. The win was the eighth in a row for OSU over the Nittany Lions, and it was secured by a pair of goal-line stands from the Buckeye defense. Ohio State is a heavy favorite this weekend against Purdue. In this projection, the Buckeyes would host the Boise State Broncos, the 12th-ranked team in the AP Poll, and the Group of Five’s automatic bid into the field. The Broncos would be heavy underdogs in this game, and Ohio State would be projected to advance to the quarterfinals for a matchup with BYU in the Fiesta Bowl.
Week 11: Purdue at Ohio State (-38.5)
11 seed - No. 11 Alabama at 6 seed - No. 5 Texas
The Alabama Crimson Tide earn the nod as the 11-seed as they move up three spots in the AP Poll despite having a bye week. The Tide are 6-2 and ranked 11th in the country. This weekend’s game against LSU will go a long way toward determining the fate of both team’s seasons. The Crimson Tide would play at the sixth-seed and fifth-ranked Texas in this projection. The Longhorns were also on a bye after beating Vanderbilt in Nashville. Texas advances as the higher-ranked team and would get Miami in the quarterfinals.
Week 11: Alabama (-2.5) at LSU
10 seed - No. 10 Notre Dame at 7 seed - No. 6 Penn State
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish were on a bye week but have comfortably moved back into the playoff discussion by beating up on inferior opposition. Wins over Purdue, Miami of Ohio, Louisville, Stanford, Georgia Tech, and Navy have the Irish at 7-1 and ranked tenth nationally. They would play at No. 6 Penn State. The Nittany Lions are licking their wounds after another loss to Ohio State but need to refocus quickly. They will likely be hosting a playoff game if they can run the table. In this projection, they would be favored over the Irish and would advance to the Sugar Bowl to play Georgia.
Week 11: Florida State at Notre Dame (-25.5)
9 seed - No. 8 Indiana at 8 seed - No. 7 Tennessee
For the first time in program history, the Indiana Hoosiers are 9-0. IU is up to eighth in the AP Poll after demolishing the Michigan State Spartans 47-10 in East Lansing and sits tied with Oregon on top of the Big Ten standings. The Hoosiers now have Michigan before playing at Ohio State. In this projection, they are the nine-seed and would play at eight-seed and No. 7 Tennessee. The Volunteers survived a bit of a scare with some good play in the second half and got past Kentucky. The Volunteers have a critical matchup at Georgia that will determine their fate. For now, Tennessee would be projected to move on and play Oregon in the Rose Bowl.
Week 11: Michigan at Indiana (-13.5)
