1. Week 6 Field Storms
The pandemonium of Week 6 is analogous to the season as a whole. Four teams pulled off unsuspecting wins, precipitating four field storms on the same night. The Minnesota Golden Gophers, Arkansas Razorbacks, Washington Huskies, and Vanderbilt Commodores fans all made their way onto the field to celebrate the monumental wins. Vandy's celebration is etched in college football lore, as the goalposts made into the Cumberland River.

10. Georgia Tech Stuns FSU in Week 0
After the first game of the college football season, we should have known just how crazy things were about to get. The Week 0 tilt between the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and Florida State Seminoles was one of the most unexpected outcomes of the year. FSU was expected to build off last year's success, but a season-opening loss signaled the beginning of the end for the Seminoles.
9. Ohio State Holds Firm vs. Penn State
This probably didn't even make the footnotes for many college football fans. Up by a touchdown in the fourth quarter, the Ohio State Buckeyes had just given up a 33-yard run to Penn State Nittany Lions tight end Tyler Warren. Penn State was sitting on the Buckeyes' three-yard line and, despite its best efforts, was kept out of the endzone. The goal line stand salvaged the win for Ohio State and potentially saved their College Football Playoff lives.
8. Tetairoa McMillan Tops 200 Receiving Yards
Undoubtedly, many of this year's top college football wide receivers will have productive professional careers. Among those stands Tetairoa McMillan, who was the only bright spot on an underwhelming Arizona Wildcats team. McMillan's shining moment came against the West Virginia Mountaineers, in which he topped 200 receiving yards on ten catches.
7. Ashton Jeanty Rumbles for 259 Yards & 4 TDs
It's unbelievable how many people are willing to overlook Ashton Jeanty in the Heisman Trophy race. The Boise State Broncos running back has been nothing short of sensational in 2024. While they weren't his highest totals of the season, his 259-yard rushing performance and four touchdowns against the Washington State Cougars in Week 4 could be his Heisman moment.
6. Penn State's Comeback vs. USC
The Penn State Nittany Lions have played in the shadow of other Big Ten teams for many years; however, 2024 could be their coming-out party. If not for a come-from-behind win against the USC Trojans in Week 7, we would be having another conversation about what could have been. Instead, Penn State can secure its first Big Ten Championship since 2016.
5. Michigan Upsets Ohio State
Recency bias played no factor in ranking the Michigan Wolverines' upset win over the Ohio State Buckeyes in the top five. Ohio State appeared destined for the Big Ten Championship Game until the Wolverines came to town in Week 14 and dismantled the playoff contenders.
4. Arizona State Storms the Field Too Early
The end of the Big 12 season was utter chaos. Heading into Week 14, nine teams were in the running for the Big 12 Championship Game. Those wheels were set in motion the week prior as the Arizona State Sun Devils upset the BYU Cougars. ASU attempted to run out the clock, and fans celebrated prematurely, causing a 20-minute delay in getting everyone off the field so the Cougars could run one final play.
3. Georgia and Georgia Tech Go to 8 Overtimes
The Georgia Bulldogs were not the powerhouse everyone expected them to be. Sure, they pulled off a few notable wins against ranked opponents, but they also barely escaped several contests against inferior programs. Week 14's eight-overtime win over the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets was included in that.
2. Notre Dame Looks Past NIU
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish were put on notice early in the season. After a monumental road victory over the 20th-ranked Texas A&M Aggies in Week 1, Notre Dame quickly dropped a heartbreaking 16-14 loss to the Northern Illinois Huskies in Week 2. That might have been the wake-up call the Irish needed, as they went on to win ten straight while covering the spread in all but one of those contests.
