Pittsburgh Steelers 2024 Draft Grade
It's hard to give Omar Khan and his scouting team anything but an A+ for this 2024 draft class. Of course, it'll take a few years before we can officially declare this a home run class for the Steelers. The early returns are promising, and there's plenty to be excited about for Pittsburgh and their fans. The Steelers addressed multiple areas of need in this draft class and got immense value when they stepped up on the clock. This draft class signifies that the Steelers are on their way back to playing bully football in the AFC North, and it's a great start by all accounts.

Troy Fautanu
After seeing the reaction of Mike Tomlin and the Pittsburgh Steelers brass, they were thrilled by Troy Fautanu being available with the 20th overall pick. Fautanu was a staple on the offensive line for the Washington Huskies and will likely immediately start as a tackle for Pittsburgh. How they arrange the line remains to be seen, but it's about time the Steelers got back to playing their brand of football. Fautanu is an excellent step in the right direction in building a competent offensive line that can help run the football.
Zach Frazier
The Pittsburgh Steelers made it fairly clear they were willing to move up if they felt threatened by a team considering Zach Frazier. The Steelers' management team ultimately stayed put and got the player they wanted in the second round. Plenty of chatter led into the draft about Frazier being gone by the time Pittsburgh selected in the second round. That didn't end up being the case, and the Steelers now have their new starting center. The Mason Cole experiment failed in Pittsburgh, and the Steelers had their sights on Frazier from the opening of the draft process.
Roman Wilson
It was no secret that going into Day 2 of the 2024 NFL Draft, the Pittsburgh Steelers were in the market for a wide receiver. With Frazier still on the board in the second round and a deep class of receivers, the Steelers played the waiting game until the third round, where they selected Roman Wilson. The Steelers have been missing a receiver who can take the top off a defense, and Wilson gives them a new threat to their group. The focus will be on pounding the rock for Pittsburgh, and Wilson's blocking game brings a valuable chip to the equation.

Payton Wilson
Spotty medical history left Payton Wilson waiting for his name to be called in the third round. The Steelers ultimately felt comfortable with the homework their medical staff did on Wilson and took a home run swing with this selection. The talent is undeniable with Wilson, and if the injury history weren't in question, it would have been hard to envision him getting out of the first round in this draft class. The Steelers are comfortable with the risk on Wilson and feel he'll hold up for them medically and be a vital component of their defense.
