Week 9: Halfway Through The Season
Sunday (1:00 p.m.) Miami Dolphins @ Buffalo Bills (CBS)
Halfway through the season, Week 9, Buffalo and Miami will go head to head. The Dolphins and the Bills are two AFC contenders that have strong followings. Buffalo is a 3-point favorite in the most recent odds, at home, so these teams are viewed as fairly even going into the season. Buffalo has dominated the series against the Dolphins having won 10 of 11 games against Miami. But with wide receiver Tyreek Hill led the league with 1,717 receiving yards in 2024, and could single handedly turn the tide in this rivaly.
Betting Lines: Bills -3 (-110) | O/U 51
My Favorite NFL Matchups Every Week for 2024
With 18 weeks in the NFL season, we look ahead to which games we will keep our eyes on. With the new NFL season fast approaching and loads of great matchups on the docket for the 2024 campaign, which matchups are we most looking forward to?
Week 1: Sau Paulo Here We Come!
Friday (8:15 p.m.) Philadelphia Eagles vs. Green Bay Packers (Peacock)
We could easily go with the opener, Baltimore Ravens, at the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs, but that would be too easy. For week 1, our eyes are on the Green Bay Packers and the Philadelphia Eagles in a stand-alone Friday night matchup. The two teams will go head to head in Sau Paulo, Brazil.
With the Packers coming into the season with their run to the Divisional Round of the NFC playoffs, they’ve set the bar relatively high for themselves. The Eagles are ecstatic to finally go out of the country since they haven’t played outside of the United States for a regular season game since 2018 in their win against the Jaguars in London. This could be a potential NFC Championship Game preview.
Betting Lines: Eagles -1.5 (-112) | O/U 48.5
Week 2: Joe Burrow vs. Patrick Mahomes Head To Head
Sunday (4:25 p.m.) Cincinnati Bengals @ Kansas City Chiefs (CBS)
Joe Burrow and Patrick Mahomes will be going face to face as they run onto the field in this exciting Week 2 matchup. The Chiefs, the two-time defending Super Bowl champions, are coming into the season with a lot of pride on their chest. And with the two quarterbacks going head to head, this game has become one of the most intense rivalries in in the NFL. During the regular season, Burrow seems to take the lead on this one. But Mahomes is known for surprising the crowd and finding a way.
Betting Lines: Chiefs -4 (-110) | O/U 49
Week 3: A-Rod Hosts the Post-Bill Pats
Thursday (8:15 p.m) New England Patriots @ New York Jets (Prime Video)
The New England Patriots and New York Jets are the iconic matchup of Week 3. The Jets broke the Patriots' streak of 15 straight wins in the rivalry last season and will look to start a new streak of their own. Aaron Rodgers never got to go up against Bill Belichick as a Jet but the Pats will not roll over for Gang Green. Rodgers will have two weeks to get familiar with the new-look Pats.
Betting Lines: Jets -7.5 (-110) | O/U 42
Week 4: The New-Look Seahawks
Monday (8:15 p.m.) Seattle Seahawks @ DetroitLions (ABC)
In week 4, we have a game with the Lions where the team will go against the Seahawks. With the Seahawks’ 9-8 finish in 2023, a new head coach will lead them into this season without Pete Carroll for the first time since 2009. The last two games between the Lions and the Seahawks were quite electric, but it all depends upon the way both of these defenses play under the roof.
Betting Lines: Lions -6 (-110) | O/U 49
Week 5: London's Calling
Sunday (9:30 a.m.) New York Jets vs. Minnesota Vikings (NFL Network)
In week 5, the Jets will return to London to face the Vikings at Tottenham Stadium on October 6th. During the 2024 NFL Draft, the two teams helped each other out as New York facilitated Minnespota's pursuit of a franchise quarterback while getting their man in hopes of protecting their QB1 for years to come. The Vikings selected J. J. McCarthy, whereas the Jets went with Penn State offensive tackle Olu Fashanu. Former Jets Sam Darnold was just named the starting QB but by Week 4, all eyes will be on McCarthy with Justin Jefferson as the perfect weapon to help the rookie taste some early success.
Betting Lines: Jets -4 (-108) | O/U 44.5
Week 6: Will Detroit Get Their Revenge?
Sunday (4:30 p.m.) Detroit Lions @ Dallas Cowboys (FOX)
In Week 6, the Lions and the Cowboys will return to a matchup that was among the most controversial of 2024. The Lions will be looking for payback. In their meeting back in December, Detroit took a last-minute lead. The Lions thought they had the game and started to celebrate their postseason berth, but Taylor Decker's “game-winner” was taken off the board by what many believed was a phantom flag. Will Detroit get its revenge?
Betting Lines: Cowboys -1 (-110) | O/U 48.5
Week 7: Super Bowl Rematch!
Sunday (4:25 p.m.) Kansas City Chiefs @ San Francisco 49ers (FOX)
In week 7, the Super Bowl teams battle against each other. This rematch between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers will be a matchup like no other. The tensions between the two from the Super Bowl will make this game a must-watch. Andy Reid and the Chiefs beat the Mike Shanahan 49ers in a second Super Bowl, so San Fran will enter the game with a bad taste in their mouth.
Betting Lines: 49ers -1 (-110) | O/U 49
Week 8: Quarterback in Chief
Sunday (1:00 p.m.) Chicago Bears @ Washington Commanders (CBS)
Coming to week 8 of the season, the Washington Commanders and the Chicago Bears will face each other in what could be a sneaky-good midseason matchup. With new head coach Dan Quinn, Washington's defensive play will be critical. They will not only be going up against former edge rusher Montez Sweat but No. 1 overall pick Caleb Williams, a hometown hero in the DC area.
Betting Lines: Bears -2 (-112) | O/U 44.5
