1. Andy Reid - Kansas City Chiefs: A+
The man bucking the NFL young coaches trend tops the NFLPA's report card. While others may have scored 90-something percent A+s, Andy Reid stands alone as the top-ranked head coach at the age of 65. The third-longest tenured bench boss in the league has helped turn Kansas City into an annual contender and the modern dynasty. Since being hired in 2013, Reid has brought the Chiefs 10 playoff berths, eight division titles, four conference championships, and three Super Bowls.
Having the MVP favorite in Patrick Mahomes (+650) and being the AFC favorite to reach Super Bowl LIX (+650) works against Reid in the Coach of the Year conversation. But how he ranks dead last with odds of +6000 is bordering on criminal.
5. Mike Tomlin - Pittsburgh Steelers: A
When you are the longest-tenured coach in the NFL, it means something. Mike Tomlin has been coaching the Pittsburgh Steelers since 2007, a clear sign the organization is a fan. Tomlin has kept his job in part by never posting a losing season while in Pittsburgh and while also clearly being a favorite amongst players.
With his contract up and Pittsburgh with the worst odds to win the AFC North at +1200, will this be Tomlin's last season with the Steelers?
It doesn't help that his team has made our Salary Cap Jail list.
4. Sean McVay - Los Angeles Rams: A
Sean McVay burst onto the scene as the youngest head coach in NFL history back in 2017. He promptly went on to win Coach of the Year in his first season and then became the youngest coach to win a Super Bowl four years later. McVay brought the LA Rams their second league championship in franchise history and is considered one of the brightest minds in football.

3. Dan Campbell - Detroit Lions: A+
Largely credited with turning the Detroit Lions around, Dan Campbell was the betting favorite to win Coach of the Year for much of the 2023 season. He led the Lions to an 8-2 mark, their best NFL start since 1962. He ended up a finalist, finishing third, but more importantly, he guided Detroit to their first playoff win since 1991.Â
He will be in tough to capture the award this season with the Lions much improved. Campbell sits with long odds of +4000 at FanDuel.

2. Kevin O'Connell - Minnesota Vikings: A+
Kevin O'Connell added to the NFL trend of young head coach hirees when the Vikings picked him up in 2022 at the age of 36. He immediately came on strong, leading Minnesota to a 13-4 mark and the NFC North crown. O'Connell tied Matt LaFleur and Jim Harbaugh for the second-most wins for a rookie head coach in league history. The outstanding freshman season vaulted O'Connell to a sixth-place finish in Coach of the Year voting.
The Vikings aren't expected to contend for the division in 2024, which is probably why O'Connell's COY odds are around the middle of the pack at +2500 at FanDuel.
