Josh Allen is coming off arguably his worst performance of the season, finishing with no touchdowns and two interceptions in a loss to the Texans. Usually, excuses wouldn’t be made, but with the offensive line allowing their star quarterback to take eight sacks in the matchup, it’s hard to ignore just how much that plays into Allen’s play. Nonetheless, the QB slots back down to No. 2 in this week’s rankings.
3) Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs
Patrick Mahomes reminded everyone why he’s considered one of, if not the best, quarterbacks in the game today on Sunday. When the Chiefs needed it most, the team’s signal caller stepped up to the moment and delivered numerous timely throws to keep his team’s season alive and eventually knock off the Colts in overtime to keep Kansas City in the playoff hunt. For that, Mahomes lands at No. 3.
4) Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens
Lamar Jackson didn’t have the most impressive performance on the weekend, but considering the solid play of the Ravens’ defense, the dual-threat QB wasn’t exactly asked to do too much. Despite that, there’s no doubt that the former MVP is a top quarterback in the league, and moving forward, Jackson will remain in the top five.
5) Drake Maye, New England Patriots
Drake Maye has solidified himself as a legit MVP candidate through the start of the season. On Sunday, the former No. 3 overall pick proved that even when things are going against him, he can look ahead to the next play and put the mistakes in the past. After an ugly pick-six to start the game, Maye turned things around and proved why he’s an MVP favorite, willing his team to another win, advancing to 10-2 on the season.
6) Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys
Dak Prescott started slowly on Sunday, but in the second half, the quarterback willed his team back into the game, eventually upsetting the Eagles in arguably the most exciting game of the weekend. Prescott tossed for 354 yards and two touchdowns in the win, and if the Cowboys' offense continues to play at this level, Dallas could be a dark-horse team to monitor down the stretch.
7) Jared Goff, Detroit Lions
Jared Goff put together a strong performance in the Lions' comeback win over the Giants on Sunday. The Lions’ quarterback finished with 279 passing yards, two touchdowns, and only one interception despite being under duress for a large portion of the game. Goff has proven to be more than just a game manager up to this point, and that’s precisely why he slots in at No. 7.
8) Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia Eagles
Jalen Hurts continues to play his role exceptionally, manning the Eagles’ offense without committing turnovers. Despite the loss to the team’s division rival on Sunday, Hurts improved his season totals to 17 passing touchdowns and only one interception, and for that, the former second-round pick lands at No. 8.
9) Baker Mayfield, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Baker Mayfield slides in this week’s rankings solely because, before his shoulder injury suffered against the Rams on Sunday Night Football, the Bucs’ star was struggling to find a rhythm against LA’s defense. Mayfield is without a doubt a top ten QB on the season, but with his recent struggles, it’s only fair to knock him down the list until proven otherwise.
