The 5 Worst Calls That Helped the Chiefs Beat the Bills

No one is talking about the illegal formation that was overlooked on the Chiefs' last drive.

With a minute and a half to go, the Chiefs desperately needed to convert a third-and-nine to avoid kicking the ball back to the Bills. When everyone was lined up, Hollywood Brown and Justin Watson went in motion from the right side to the left side. Subsequently, Samaje Perine caught an underneath pass, getting Kansas City the first down.

The list of examples goes on, but the officials clearly prefer the Chiefs. At this point, the NFL isn't even trying to hide it.

Xavier Worthy's "Catch"
The Kansas City Chiefs and the referees are off to their third straight Super Bowl. While the Buffalo Bills are left licking their wounds and wondering what could have been, they can at least take solace in the missed calls that allowed the Chiefs to prevail. The most egregious of which is undoubtedly Xavier Worthy's "catch."

First, we all saw Cole Bishop come down with that ball. Second, and more importantly, the football clearly touches the ground before Worthy obtains possession of it. Despite the challenge, the NFL and its cronies supported that it was still Chiefs ball.

Maybe we'll never really understand what a catch is. But as long as it favors the Chiefs, it doesn't matter.

Fourth Down Conversion
Spearheaded by some of the most prominent figures in sports, the Bills' "failed" fourth-down conversion has been the chatter of social media.

Multiple angles show Josh Allen converting the fourth down. While he appeared to be stopped short on his initial attempt, the Bills quarterback seemingly got the ball past the line to gain on a second effort.

The refs gave the Bills an unfortunate spot, and the replay crew in New York neglected to review the same angles everyone else was looking at.

The fourth down conversion looks even worse when we consider the play beforehand. Josh Allen completed a pass to Dalton Kincaid, and while no one took the time to review it, Kincaid appeared to have enough yards to move the marker.

Buffalo needed the 40. When Kincaid's elbow came down, the football appeared almost halfway past the line. But when the linesman came in, the ball moved back nearly half a foot, forcing the Bills to go for it.

We know how it ended, but more should be said about the initial football placement after the third-down try.
Dalton Kincaid's Drop
It doesn't matter what Dalton Kincaid accomplishes for the rest of his career. He will forever be tied to his missed completion on Josh Allen's miraculous pass attempt. However, that drop has also acted as a smoke screen for what would typically have been called a "roughing the passer" had the shoe been on the other foot.

Allen got rid of the ball late, potentially exposing himself to a hit. But the Chiefs defender made no effort to ease up, wrapping up the Bills quarterback and driving him into the ground.

You can't help but think that a flag would have been thrown if Patrick Mahomes had absorbed the hit. If it had, Kincaid would be soaking much less heat right now.
