MLB AL Odds Power Rankings: Rays, Astros Bet Down

Zack Cook

Host · Writer

The Tampa Bay Rays are still the class of the American League, but the defending World Series champion Houston Astros are back in the mix and playing better. SportsGrid has your updated MLB odds.

Below are the top ten favorites to win the AL.

Stay ahead of the game and elevate your sports betting experience with SportsGrid and our daily MLB game picks.

1. Tampa Bay Rays +195 (Last week: +200)

Despite losing three straight games and holding a mediocre 5-5 record over their last ten contests, the Tampa Bay Rays saw their odds of winning the Pennant slightly bet down over the previous week from +200 to +195.

2. (Tie) Texas Rangers +440 (Last week: +440)

It hasn’t been a favorable stretch of baseball from the Texas Rangers to begin July. The AL West leaders have dropped six of their last ten games, decreasing their division lead to just three games over the Houston Astros. Texas has maintained its +440 odds of winning the American League.

2. (Tie) Houston Astros +440 (Last week: +480)

After a rough June, it looks as though the Houston Astros have found their form as a contender again. Houston has won three straight games and seven of their last ten, leading to their odds of winning the American League getting bet down from +480 to +440.

4. New York Yankees +800 (Last week: +900)

Coming off a series victory over the Baltimore Orioles, the New York Yankees have now reeled off seven wins over their last ten games. With the Bronx Bombers in a groove, they’ve seen their odds to win the AL Pennant bet down from +900 to +800.

5. Toronto Blue Jays +1100 (Last week: +1200)

There’s been plenty of inconsistencies with the Toronto Blue Jays in the first half of the MLB season. In saying that, the talent level is there for this team to find success in the American League, which has seen their odds rise from +1200 to +1100.

6. (Tie) Minnesota Twins +1500 (Last week: +1200)

With two straight wins, the Minnesota Twins find themselves one game over .500 and in the driver’s seat in the AL Central. Still, they haven’t played consistently over the last month, leading to their odds dropping from +1200 to +1500 over the previous week.

6. (Tie) Baltimore Orioles +1500 (Last week: +1600)

It appears the Baltimore Orioles have hit a rut to begin July. The O’s have lost six of their last ten games but have seen their odds of winning the American League rise from +1600 to +1500.

8. Cleveland Guardians +2500 (Last week: +3000)

The Cleveland Guardians have won six of their last ten games and trail the Minnesota Twins by one game in the AL Central. With their positive start to July, the Guardians have seen their odds rise from +3000 to +2500.

9. Los Angeles Angels +3400 (Last week: +2000)

With injuries taking center stage for the Los Angeles Angels this week, there aren’t a lot of positives surrounding this club. The Angels have lost seven of their last ten, leading to their odds plummeting from +2000 to +3400.

10. Seattle Mariners +3500 (Last week: +3000)

Have the Seattle Mariners finally turned a corner and started to play like the playoff team they were last year? The M’s have won four in a row and are back to .500, but their odds of winning the AL have dropped again from +3000 to +3500.
