MLB AL Odds Power Rankings: Rays Remain at Top, Orioles Surging

Zack Cook

Host · Writer

The Tampa Bay Rays are still the favorite in the American League, but the Baltimore Orioles have continued to be a team on the rise in July.

SportsGrid has your updated MLB odds. Below are the top ten favorites to win the AL.

Stay ahead of the game and elevate your sports betting experience with SportsGrid and our daily MLB game picks.

1. Tampa Bay Rays +270 (Last week: +210)

We’re reaching the territory where we have to wonder how long the struggles will last for the Tampa Bay Rays. It’s been a difficult month, which has seen them run off just three wins over the last ten games, leading to a drop from first in the AL East and their odds moving from +210 to +270.

2. Texas Rangers +410 (Last week: +440)

Despite two straight losses, the Texas Rangers have won six of their last ten and have control of the top spot in the AL West. With their consistent play, the Rangers have seen their odds to win the American League Pennant rise from +440 to +410.

3. Houston Astros +450 (Last week: +440)

Three straight victories for the Houston Astros have helped improve their record to 7-3 over their last ten games. The Astros trail Texas by one game in the AL West, and they’re still right in the conversation to win the American League at +450.

4. Baltimore Orioles +650 (Last week: +1200)

It’s time that we start taking the Baltimore Orioles more seriously. The O’s leapfrogged the Tampa Bay Rays over the weekend for first in the AL East and have seen their odds to win the American League nearly cut in half over the last week, where they’ve risen from +1200 to +650.

5. (Tie) Toronto Blue Jays +800 (Last week: +1000)

The Toronto Blue Jays are amid a middling stretch, where they’ve posted a 5-5 record over their last ten games. Still, the Blue Jays occupy a wild-card spot in the American League, and their odds of winning the Pennant have risen from +1000 to +800.

5. (Tie) Minnesota Twins +800 (Last week: +1200)

It’s been a strong back-half of July for the Minnesota Twins, who’ve padded their lead more atop the AL Central. The Twins have won seven of their last ten games, leading to their odds of winning the American League getting bet down from +1200 to +800.

7. New York Yankees +1800 (Last week: +900)

The New York Yankees continue to find themselves in the basement of the AL East. It’s not as though it’s a lost season yet for the Bronx Bombers, who’re just 2.5 games out of a wild-card spot. Still, the Yankees have seen their odds to win the AL Pennant double over the last week from +900 to +1800.

8. (Tie) Boston Red Sox +3000 (Last week: Unranked in Top Ten)

There’s much to like about how the Boston Red Sox have performed throughout July. They’ve gotten back into the wild-card hunt and are now just 1.5 games back of a playoff spot. As a result, the Red Sox have climbed into the top ten, where they sit at +3000 to win the AL.

8. (Tie) Seattle Mariners +3000 (Last week: +2500)

The Seattle Mariners are one game above .500 and quietly had a solid month. Still, they remain 4.5 games out of a playoff position in the American League; hence their odds sliding from +2500 to +3000.

10. Cleveland Guardians +4000 (Last week: +3000)

It’s been an up-and-down month for the Cleveland Guardians, who are three games behind the Minnesota Twins in the AL Central. The Guardians have seen their American League odds drop off from +3000 to +4000.
