Padres Place Manny Machado Injured List

George Kurtz

The San Diego Padres placed Manny Machado on the injured list Friday, MLBTradeRumors.com reports.
Machado has a fracture in his hand that the team was originally hoping that he could play through, but an IL stint will be necessary. The Padres didn’t state a timetable for when they believe Machado will be able to return to the lineup. San Diego hasn’t gotten off to the kind of start expected of them this season after being declared the winner of the offseason by handing out so many big-money contracts. It’s still early, but they already trail the division-leading Los Angeles Dodgers by 7.5 games, and if the season ended today, they wouldn’t make the playoffs.
On Saturday, the Padres will host the Boston Red Sox. San Diego will start Joe Musgrove, while the Sox will counter with Chris Sale. The Padres are +162 (-1.5) on the run line and -132 on the moneyline, with an over/under of 7.5, over (-120), and under (-102).
You can find the lines and props for this game and all others on the FanDuel Sportsbook.
