1. Babe Ruth (Boston Red Sox)
It's impossible to have the greatest MLB postseason debut discussion without including Babe Ruth. Although Ruth had one plate appearance in the 1915 World Series, he took the hill for the Red Sox on October 9th, 1916 against the Brooklyn Dodgers. Ruth pitched a complete 14-inning game and allowed just one earned run. (Yes, you read that correctly, 14-innings). It's fitting that the most dominant player to ever play MLB also had the greatest postseason debut.
5. Kevin Millwood (Atlanta Braves)
Right-handed pitcher Kevin Millwood carved out a nice big league career for himself, and it kicked off with a dominant postseason performance for the Atlanta Braves. Millwood threw a complete game in his playoff debut, allowing just one earned run and striking out eight Houston Astros.
4. Royce Lewis (Minnesota Twins)
There were question marks about whether or not Royce Lewis would even be able to suit up in the postseason for the Minnesota Twins due to injury. He wasn't at 100% and wasn't able to play the field, but he did DH for the Twins in their wild-card series opener against the Toronto Blue Jays. Lewis provided all the offense the Twins would need, mashing a pair of home runs and helping Minnesota snap their 18-game postseason losing streak.
3. Roy Halladay (Philadelphia Phillies)
It wasn't until right-hander Roy Halladay was dealt to the Philadelphia Phillies that he would see postseason action. His time with the Toronto Blue Jays was memorable and helped shape his Hall-of-Fame career, but it was his debut in the playoffs with the Philadelphia Phillies which stands out. Halladay pitched a no-hitter against the Cincinnati Reds on October 6, 2010.
2. Tim Lincecum (San Francisco Giants)
The San Francisco Giants had some really great teams over the last 15 years, with one of their most memorable coming 2010. This is the year we saw the postseason debut of Tim Lincecum, who dazzled the baseball world on October 7, 2010. The electric right-hander might not have thrown a no hitter, but no Atlanta Braves hitters were touching him on that day. Lincecum struck out 14 batters and allowed just two hits in the complete game shutout. The Giants would later capture the 2010 World Series.
