Way Too Early 2023-24 NHL Stanley Cup Power Rankings

The Vegas Golden Knights just won their first Stanley Cup, but the Colorado Avalanche are listed as the favorites to win it next year.

Check out more of SportsGrid’s NHL coverage.

Below, we’ll look into the top ten favorites to win the 2023-24 Stanley Cup.

1. Colorado Avalanche +800

After bowing out in the first round of the 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs, the Colorado Avalanche are expected to be back in the fold as a serious contender in 2023-24. Nathan MacKinnon and the Avalanche are listed with the top odds to win the Stanley Cup at +800.

Between Nuggets and Avalanche, What’s in the Water in Denver?

2. (Tie) Toronto Maple Leafs +1100

Led by a new general manager, will that change the philosophy of how the Toronto Maple Leafs are built in 2023-24? Toronto is loaded with star power, but can their core group finally get through the playoff grind? The Maple Leafs sit in a tie for the second-shortest odds at +1100.

2. (Tie) Edmonton Oilers +1100

The Edmonton Oilers were eliminated by the eventual Stanley Cup champs in six games, and there’s no shame in that. Edmonton still has Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl in the fold, meaning their Stanley Cup window is wide open at +1100.

4. (Tie) New Jersey Devils +1300

It was a coming-out party for the New Jersey Devils in 2022-23, which saw them put together a strong regular season before exiting the playoffs in Round 2 against the Carolina Hurricanes. With their young stars making strides, the Devils should once again be in the mix next year at +1300.

4. (Tie) Boston Bruins +1300

After a historic regular season where the Boston Bruins won the Presidents’ Trophy, they were upset in Round 1 against the Florida Panthers. Will all of the Bruins return in 2023-24? Their current odds at +1300 suggest that they will.

4. (Tie) Vegas Golden Knights +1300

The Vegas Golden Knights are coming off winning their first Stanley Cup. Their core should remain relatively unchanged, but they’re still in salary cap jail and will need to move some pieces out. Will the misfits be as hungry now? The Golden Knights sit in a tie for the fourth-shortest odds at +1300.

4. (Tie) Carolina Hurricanes +1300

If it weren’t for injuries, you can make a strong case that the Carolina Hurricanes would have won the Eastern Conference and maybe even the Stanley Cup. Look for this team to add another scorer in the offseason and be a strong value play at +1300.

4. (Tie) Tampa Bay Lightning +1300

Even though it appears the Tampa Bay Lightning’s dynasty run has come to an end after bowing out in the first round last year to the Toronto Maple Leafs, this veteran-led squad still sits amongst the favorites to win the Stanley Cup at +1300.

9. New York Rangers +1500

After a disappointing first-round exit against the New Jersey Devils, the New York Rangers fired their head coach and are now being led by veteran bench boss Peter Laviolette. The Broadway Blueshirts own +1500 odds to win the 2023-24 Stanley Cup.

10. Dallas Stars +1700

There are parts of the Dallas Stars core that are aging, but they also have younger pieces, such as Jason Robertson, Jake Oettinger, and Miro Heiskanen, to carry the load. The Stars sit with the tenth-shortest odds to win the Stanley Cup at +1700.
