The New York Yankees have come unglued, but they are somehow managing to hold onto their playoff spot. We don’t trust them to get off the schneid versus the Minnesota Twins; however, neither team should have any issues putting runs on the board in tonight’s series opener at Yankee Stadium.
Will Warren is tasked with halting the Yankees’ horrid run, but the outlook isn’t promising. Warren has been the victim of constant solid contact. He ranks in the 16th percentile in hard-hit rate (45.1%), 12th percentile in average exit velocity (90.9 mph), and 36th percentile in barrel rate (9.1%). Those metrics won’t shelter him from a surging Twins’ squad.
While they have struggled with consistency all season long, the Twins have looked more like a playoff team in recent weeks. Over its last six games, Minnesota ranks eighth in the majors in OPS, clamoring together a .332 on-base percentage and a mighty .490 slugging percentage.
The Twins should have no problem scoring on Monday, but neither should the Yankees as they tee off on Zebby Matthews. In the end, this one is destined for more than nine runs.

Where to Watch Detroit Tigers vs. Chicago White Sox
- Ballpark: Rate Field
- Location: Chicago, IL
- Where to Watch: FDSDET, CHSN
- Time: 7:40 p.m. ET
- Spread: DET -1.5 | Total: 8.5
- Moneyline: DET -142 | CHW +120
The betting market seemingly loves the Chicago White Sox chances versus the Detroit Tigers. Still, we’re not looking past the division leaders in this ideal betting spot.
With just five wins over their last 10 games, the Tigers haven’t played up to their usual standard lately. Nevertheless, they’ve shown signs of getting back on the winning track. Detroit put up 19 runs across their three-game set versus the Angels, and has recorded four or more runs in five of its last six.
With Chris Paddack on the bump, four runs should be more than enough to help secure victory. The veteran righty has been operating at peak efficiency in recent starts, holding two of three opponents to only one run. Across that three-game sample, Paddack has a 3.38 ERA and 0.81 WHIP.
The White Sox offense remains one of the worst in the league, and we don’t expect them to muster a counter-attack on Monday. The Tigers are undeserving of this short price, and we like their chances of continuing their recent hot streak.
Best Bet: Tigers -142
Where to Watch Boston Red Sox vs. Houston Astros
- Ballpark: Daikin Park
- Location: Houston, TX
- Where to Watch: NESN, SCHN
- Time: 8:10 p.m. ET
- Spread: BOS -1.5 | Total: 7.5
- Moneyline: BOS -172 | HOU +142
Any time Garret Crochet takes to the mound, the Boston Red Sox are going to be favorites. However, we can’t look past the value in backing the Houston Astros as home underdogs in this pivotal American League tilt.
There are signs of cracking in Crochet’s underlying metrics. He hasn’t given up more than two earned runs in any of his previous five starts, but there is an imbalance between his scoring and production metrics. Across that five-game sample, Crochet has a sparkling 2.25 ERA, which is counterbalanced by his increasing WHIP, which has jumped to 1.39. That imbalance suggests that we should see an increase in Crochet’s ERA over his coming starts.
Surely, the Astros are one of the few teams that could facilitate that correction. Houston is one of the hottest hitting teams in the majors right now, compiling a .862 OPS over the past week. Over that stretch, the AL West leaders are averaging 5.4 runs and are clubbing 4.8 extra-base hits per game.
Crochet has been able to navigate his way through tricky situations, but he won’t be so fortunate against the Astros. At +142, we’re hammering Houston in this spot.
Best Bet: Astros +142
