Thunder vs Celtics Wednesday Prediction | NBA Picks Today, Best Bets

John Canady

Host · Writer

The Oklahoma City Thunder head East for a showdown with the defending champions, the Boston Celtics. OKC enters his matchup as the top seed in the Western Conference, looking like a true contender to make a run to the NBA Finals. Looking to prove they’re ready to dethrone the champs, the Thunder will have their chance on Wednesday night. However, the Celtics enter this battle riding a five-game winning streak. Nonetheless, with both teams holding an 8-2 record in their last 10 games, expect a dogfight between two teams who believe they are the top dog.

Thunder vs Celtics Best Bet: Celtics -2

The Celtics enter this matchup as the favorites at home, but there’s no denying this matchup can go either way. In their lone battle this season, Boston dominated most of the first half in Oklahoma City before collapsing in the second half to the young Thunder squad, who outscored the C’s 50-27 in the second half. Considering how poorly the Celtics played in their last matchup, I expect Joe Mazzulla’s squad to have this rematch circled on their calendar as they look to prove they are still the best team in the league. Give me the odds that the Celtics take care of business in the last game between these two powerhouses in the regular season.

Thunder vs Celtics Best Total Bet: Over 228.5

The Thunder and Celtics rank in the top ten in the league in terms of points per game ahead of this showdown. OKC ranks No. 4, averaging 119.7 points per game, just ahead of the C’s, who sit No. 7, averaging 116.9 points. Each squad has the firepower to surpass this set total midway through the fourth quarter. Although the last battle was more of a defensive duel totaling only 197 total points, I expect this game to be the opposite, with a final score of 117-113 being a realistic outcome.

Thunder Best Player Bet: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander 3+ Threes Made +102

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has continued his MVP campaign, averaging 32.7 points per game. Opposing defenses have concluded that there’s no way to shut down the Kentucky product, only limiting his production. With the Celtics likely looking to limit his touches inside the paint, I can see Boston living with SGA shooting as many shots from three as he wants in this matchup. And with how well Gilgeous-Alexander has shot this season, he’ll gladly take every shot from deep that the C’s allow him. With 3+ threes made in five of his last six games, I’ll take the odds the Thunder star continues his streak tonight.

Celtics Best Player Bet: Jayson Tatum 30+ Points Scored +124

Jayson Tatum has elevated his play to a different level this season, controlling the game as both a consistent scorer and an underrated facilitator. Throughout the season, the Celtics star has risen to the occasion against the top teams in the league, including a 40-point outing in his last game against the Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday. Tatum enters this matchup with 30+ points scored in back-to-back games. I’ll take the odds that Tatum adds another big game to his season totals, especially with the Thunder’s best wing defender, Jalen Williams, set to miss tonight’s battle.
