Lane Kiffin returned the Florida Atlantic Owls to glory, only to leave the program scrambling over the past five years. The Willie Taggart experiment was a disappointment, and the Tom Herman era didn't get off to a better start in 2023. Unfortunately for Owls fans, the outlook is even murkier heading into the upcoming campaign.
FAU was active in the transfer portal, signing Cam Fancher from the Marshall Thundering Herd to take the reigns on offense. He's joined by EJ Horton, Marlyn Johnson, and Milan Tucker as receivers, and George Johnson at running back.
Although they have most of their starters on defense back for another season, that's not necessarily a good thing. Florida Atlantic gave up nearly 400 yards per game last season, putting them in the bottom half of the conference.
It would take a small miracle for the Owls to overcome their shortcomings, relegating them to the bottom half of the power rankings.
