Big Ten Championship Game: Oregon vs. Ohio State - December 7
Oregon will make the long trip from Eugene to Indianapolis to play in the Big Ten Championship Game with a first-round College Football Playoff bye on the line. The battle to be their opponent in this game will be fascinating, with Penn State and Indiana both still unbeaten. Still, Ohio State plays both, and the Buckeyes will be favored against each. That would pit the Ducks against the Buckeyes in a rematch of their epic regular season game. Oregon winning was no fluke, but I think Ohio State gets the better of them on a neutral field at Lucas Oil Stadium. Ohio State will lean more toward the running game, specifically with TreVeyon Henderson, and that will give them a narrow win and the No. 2 seed in the College Football Playoff (right behind Texas). I am projecting Oregon to be 12-1 and be selected as the five-seed in the playoff.
Prediction: Ohio State 30 - Oregon 27

Oregon (-27.5) at Purdue - Friday, October 18 at 8:00
The Oregon Ducks are coming off of, quite possibly, the biggest win in school history as they knocked off the Ohio State Buckeyes in primetime and ascended to No. 2 in the polls. The Ducks must now travel from Eugene to West Lafayette to play the Purdue Boilermakers as nearly four-touchdown favorites. Given the situation, this is a scary spot for Oregon, and a major letdown is almost expected. Purdue found some life in the second half against Illinois as backup quarterback Ryan Browne brought some punch to the offense, and the Boilermakers forced Illinois to overtime. After the Ducks sleepwalk through the first half, they take control in the second half and win comfortably but do not cover.
Prediction: Oregon 38 - Purdue 20
Illinois at Oregon - October 26 at 3:30
Oregon returns to Eugene for Homecoming and a clash with the Illinois Fighting Illini. Which Illinois team are the Ducks going to get? Illinois has beaten Nebraska and looked fantastic for the first 30 minutes against Purdue. Still, they fell apart in the second half, gave up 49 points to Purdue, and only beat the Boilermakers by one point after only scoring seven against Penn State a week earlier. The issue in this game for Illinois is that they are relatively one-dimensional, which spells trouble against the Oregon pass rush. The Illini are only rushing for 3.89 yards per carry, so they’ll likely have to lean on Luke Altmyer, and the Ducks will have a green light to get after Illinois’ quarterback. Oregon will overwhelm the Illinois offensive line, just like they did against Michigan State, and roll to a big win.
Prediction: Oregon 42 - Illinois 14
Oregon at Michigan - November 2
This was expected to be a massive game on the Big Ten schedule. As the calendar flips to November, Oregon heads to Ann Arbor to play the reigning national champions, but Michigan could have three or four losses by the time this game kicks off. Oregon is limiting opponents to 3.77 yards per rush this season, and Michigan has not shown that it can threaten opponents with the pass. Oregon has the big bodies and athletes to stop the run if they don’t need to worry about the pass, and the Ducks have a solid defensive coaching staff that will have no problem against this Michigan offense. The Wolverines still have a solid defense but will get worn down facing this quick Oregon attack with no help from their offense. Oregon pulls away for a comfortable win on the road.
Prediction: Oregon 27 - Michigan 14
Maryland at Oregon - November 9
The Maryland Terrapins are now 0-3 in the Big Ten with losses to Indiana, Northwestern, and Michigan State. Mike Locksley has come under fire for his inability to win in the Big Ten, and games against USC and Minnesota precede this clash at Autzen Stadium. Maryland could be 0-5 and on “quit watch” by the time November 9 rolls around. The Terrapins struggle to defend the pass and likely won’t offer much resistance to the Oregon offense. The Ducks should wax the Terrapins and improve to 10-0.
Prediction: Oregon 41 - Maryland 10
Oregon at Wisconsin - November 16
The most interesting regular season game remaining on Oregon’s schedule might be the November 16 trip to Madison to play the Wisconsin Badgers. After some struggles early in the season and an injury to quarterback Tyler Van Dyke, the Badgers are hitting their stride with two dominant wins in a row. Wisconsin hammered Purdue 52-6 and won at Rutgers 42-7. Braedyn Locke and running back Tawee Walker have stepped up and performed well, and the Wisconsin defense has looked excellent in the past two weeks. If the weather in Madison is poor, this game could get tricky for the Ducks. Ultimately, Oregon has too much offensive skill, and it prevails in an ugly game to remain unbeaten.
Prediction: Oregon 24 - Wisconsin 13
Washington at Oregon - November 30
Oregon has a late bye and finishes the regular season with a home game against the Washington Huskies on November 30. This game will be personal for Dan Lanning after three straight losses to the Huskies spoiled Oregon’s 2023 season. The cast of players and coaches are different, but you know it’s important for Oregon to exorcise the demons and hammer the Huskies. This version of Washington does not have the athletes or the offense to stay with Oregon, and the Ducks will roll to a Senior Day triumph and a spot in the Big Ten Championship Game.
Prediction: Oregon 35 - Washington 17
