Colorado and Nebraska head into week two of the season 1-0, but only one program can remain undefeated. With Matt Rhule and Deion Sanders looking to build on the foundation they’ve started at their selective schools, this will be a key matchup that both squads will get up for.
Here’s what you need to know ahead of Saturday’s game.
Colorado @ Nebraska
Location: Memorial Stadium (Lincoln, Nebraska) Time: 7:30 p.m. ET | Where to Watch: NBC/Peacock
Spread: Nebraska -7.5, Moneyline: Nebraska -260, Total: 58.5
Colorado @ Nebraska Best Bet: Colorado +210
Colorado may have one of the most explosive offenses in the nation behind Shedeur Sanders and his talented wide receiving corps. However, Nebraska is no slouch either, with freshman Dylan Raiola quickly elevating the Cornhusker offense. Both teams’ defenses could be tested on Saturday night, likely leading to a shootout between two talented squads. With that said, Colorado sneaking out a win on the road may not be too far-fetched.
Colorado @ Nebraska Best Bet Total: Over 58.5
As mentioned above, seeing this game quickly turn into a shootout wouldn’t be a surprise. Both offenses will almost come to play, so putting numbers up likely won’t be a problem. If I had to make a score prediction, I’d say Nebraska edges out the Buffaloes 37-31.
Colorado Offensive Player to Watch: Jimmy Horn Jr.
Entering the season, the hype around Colorado’s offense mainly revolved around the duo of Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter. However, in week one against North Dakota, Jimmy Horn Jr. emerged with seven receptions for 198 yards and a touchdown. Horn Jr. could be primed for another big game with opposing defenses focused on limiting Hunter’s impact.
Colorado Defensive Player to Watch: Travis Hunter
Travis Hunter is an ace of all trades with his ability to be a superstar on both sides of the ball. When he’s not Sander’s top offensive target, he’s busy locking down the other team’s top target on defense. The versatile playmaker’s impact on offense will play a role. Still, his ability to slow down the Cornhuskers offense and limit the passing game alone could be vital for a Buffaloes win.
Nebraska Offensive Player to Watch: Dylan Raiola
Dylan Raiola made his debut in a Nebraska jersey last weekend, and he looked every bit the part. The freshman threw for 238 yards and two touchdowns in the team’s week one win, and he looks to build on it against a struggling Colorado defense that allowed North Dakota State to hang around. If the Cornhuskers hope to improve to 2-0, they’ll need a big game from their quarterback.
Nebraska Defensive Player to Watch: Malcolm Hartzog Jr.
Malcolm Hartzog Jr. led the Cornhuskers in tackles in week one. The free safety showcased his ability to tackle in the open field and played a significant role in Nebraska, limiting UTEP to seven points. Now, he’ll get a chance to build off his performance against one of the top offenses college football has to offer.
