In the ever-evolving landscape of football, the importance of agility and speed among offensive linemen has never been more pronounced. Tanor Bortolini, an emerging talent out of Wisconsin, had a notable achievement in the three-cone drill at the NFL Combine. Bartolini has recently drawn comparisons to one of the greats in the sport, Jason Kelce, formerly of the Philadelphia Eagles, known for his exceptional movement and recently celebrated retirement.

Bortolini, reflecting on his preparation for the three-cone drill, shared, “Obviously, short speed quickness is always something I prided myself on having. So really just getting the pattern down…once I got it down, I really felt really comfortable about what I was going to do, just making sure I did it at the combine."

The diligence in mastering the footwork required for this specific drill paid off, as Bortolini surpassed the time set by Kelce, a player often heralded as one of the best movers of all time in the offensive lineman position. “To see the result I got, there was awesome and ever be mentioned in the same sentence as one of the all-time greats is a really cool thing," Bortolini expressed with a sense of accomplishment and honor.

The conversation shifted towards the collegiate atmosphere that shaped Bortolini, specifically the traditions at the University of Wisconsin. Known for its storied college football program, Wisconsin has a rich history of producing top-tier offensive linemen and running backs. Yet, it’s the traditions that ignite the spirit of the game, such as the iconic “Jump Around" played before the start of the fourth quarter at Camp Randall Stadium, that Bortolini holds dear. “We love it," he said, reflecting on the energizing tradition. Although participation in the jump has waned for him personally as he’s grown older and more focused on conserving energy for the game, he appreciates the enthusiasm it stirs, especially among the younger players and skill positions. “I always love when Camp Randall gets going…As long as it gets the energy going, that’s all I can ask for."
