10) South Carolina Gamecocks
The Gamecocks began to turn heads after their quick 3-0 start to the season. In addition, South Carolina nearly improved to 4-0 before a second-half collapse and a handful of questionable calls from the officiating crew allowed LSU to steal a game on the road. Entering their bye week, the hype around Shane Beamer’s squad continued to build. Unfortunately, the hype train came to a hard stop after Ole Miss came to Williams-Brice Stadium and steamrolled the Gamecocks on their home field. Now, USC has its hands full this weekend with an Alabama team already looking to make a statement. Nonetheless, if South Carolina can pull off the upset, they can put themselves back in the mix.
Odds to Make the College Football Playoffs: South Carolina +15000
1) Washington Huskies
The Huskies started the year strong before running into a Washington State team that handed them their first loss of the season. A couple of weeks later, Washington fell again to a competitive Rutgers team. However, Jedd Fisch’s squad seemed to finally put everything together in an impressive win over Michigan at home last week. With two ranked opponents remaining on their schedule, there's still time for a late-season push.
Odds to Make the College Football Playoffs: Washington +7500
2) Michigan Wolverines
The Wolverines have dealt with struggles following Jim Harbaugh's departure and several players moving on to the NFL. While the team has overcome many hurdles, its lack of consistency at the quarterback position seems to be finally catching up. Michigan’s ground game is impeccable, but a one-dimensional offense is too much for a defense to overcome weekly. Fortunately for Sherrone Moore, Michigan remains in the AP Top 25 with time to get the team back on track.
Odds to Make the College Football Playoffs: Michigan +3000
3) Arkansas Razorbacks
Arkansas is fresh off an upset win over a highly-ranked and well-respected Tennessee Volunteers team. The week prior, the Razorbacks took the Texas A&M Aggies down to the wire before being handed their second loss of the year. Now, the team carries its confidence into another battle against a ranked opponent. A win over LSU this weekend could not only allow them to continue stacking wins, but back-to-back wins over ranked competition will turn the heads of the committee.
Odds to Make the College Football Playoffs: +3400
4) USC Trojans
The Trojans defeated the LSU Tigers in the opening weekend of college football, but have since struggled to remain consistent. After losing to Michigan in Week 3, USC would fall to Minnesota again just a couple of weeks later. At 3-2, the Trojans now find themselves on the outside looking in. Nevertheless, with Lincoln Riley leading the way, there’s still time to save a sinking ship with a strong second-half push in the back stretch of the season.
Odds to Make the College Football Playoffs: USC +1100
5) Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
Georgia Tech was the first team to defeat a ranked opponent to start the college football season off. Since then, the Yellow Jackets have been through some highs and lows. However, with a 4-2 record, Georgia Tech has plenty of time to continue stacking wins. And with three ranked opponents remaining, if Brent Key’s squad can put it all together, they could be a tough opponent on any opponent they face up against.
Odds to Make the College Football Playoffs: Georgia Tech +8000
6) Louisville Cardinals
Louisville held their spot in the AP Top 25 rankings for a few weeks before Notre Dame handed them their first loss of the season in Week 4. After the loss, the Cardinals fell short again the following weekend against an underrated SMU team. At 3-2, Louisville needs to put the past behind them to end their two-game losing streak. With seven games left, there’s still plenty of time for the ACC squad to turn their season around and get back in the running.
Odds to Make the College Football Playoffs: Louisville +1500
7) Vanderbilt Commodores
Vanderbilt may have pulled off the upset of the season following their win against the undefeated Alabama Crimson Tide last weekend. The Commodores have continued to show how competitive they could be, and Vandy put it all together against a top team to make a statement that they’re no longer the “same old Vandy.” If they can build on their win, they could find themselves in the AP Top 25 at some point as the season unwinds.
Odds to Make the College Football Playoffs: Vanderbilt +30000
8) Boston College Eagles
After the Eagles' first two wins to start the year, Boston College quickly turned heads. Entering Week 3 ranked No. 24, the team’s time in the AP Top 25 was brief after losing to Missouri. Following the loss, Boston College has been a bit inconsistent. The Eagles have the talent but haven’t been able to have everything click at once. Fortunately for them, they have plenty of time to get everything straightened out and finish the year strong.
Odds to Make the College Football Playoffs: Boston College +6500
9) UCF Knights
UCF started the season off strong with a quick 3-0 start. The addition of KJ Jefferson at quarterback made the Knights look like one of the top-rising teams in the nation. However, after their blowout loss at home to Colorado in Week 4, UCF has seemed to take a tumble. The following week, Central Florida was dominated by a Florida Gators team already dealing with its own issues. UCF still has time to figure things out, but it has to begin this weekend if they hope to have any chance at a run for the CFP.
Odds to Make the College Football Playoffs: UCF +2400
