The college football season continues, with Week 2 action kicking off on Saturday. What SEC bets should you make for the second week of action? The SEC has plenty of contenders looking to make their mark for a national championship in 2024, highlighted by Georgia, Texas, Alabama, and Ole Miss. The journey for these powerhouse programs continues in Week 2.
We’ll highlight our weekly SEC best bets below and keep track of our betting record throughout the season. Good luck!
Season Record: 3-1-0

SEC Play (1 Unit)
South Florida vs. No.4 Alabama Crimson Tide
Spread: Bulls +29.5 (-106) | Crimson Tide -29.5 (-115)
Moneyline: Bulls +2200 | Crimson Tide -8000
Total: OVER 64.5 (-110) | UNDER 64.5 (-110)
In Week 1 of the Kalen DeBoer era at Alabama, the Crimson Tide got off to an expected dominant start by posting a 63-0 victory over Western Kentucky. What was most impressive for me with the Crimson Tide wasn’t the final score; it was the kind of concepts DeBoer brought. There’s a definite difference between how Nick Saban coached the ‘Tide and how DeBoer will. That was evident in Week 1, and we’re banking on that continuing in Week 2 against South Florida. The notion that the Crimson Tide have an athletic weapon like Jalen Milroe at quarterback and a coaching mind like DeBoer should scare some teams in the SEC. The assumption that the Crimson Tide would take a step back in 2024 isn’t going to happen.
Recommended Play: Crimson Tide -29.5 (-115)
Bigger SEC Play (2 Units)
No.3 Texas Longhorns vs. No.10 Michigan Wolverines
Spread: Longhorns -7.5 (-105) | Wolverines +7.5 (-115)
Moneyline: Longhorns -310 | Wolverines +245
Total: OVER 42.5 (-110) | UNDER 54.5 (-110)
It’s the game of the week in Week 2, so you know we will have some action on this one. The defending national champion Michigan Wolverines host the Texas Longhorns in a much-anticipated clash of the Titans. The Longhorns looked the part of a national title threat in Week 1, while the Wolverines were mediocre. It wouldn’t have exactly been surprising to see both teams have some trouble in Week 1, knowing very well this elite matchup was looming. The Longhorns are a legitimate offense and can beat you in multiple ways. In saying that, Quinn Ewers will have his work cut out for him against an experienced defense in Michigan. With lockdown weapons like Will Johnson in the secondary and a budding superstar in Mason Graham up front, the Longhorns could be in for a long day trying to move the football. We’re not bullish on the Wolverines offense, but they can win battles in the trenches, allowing them to keep this a one-score game. Longhorns win, Wolverines cover.
Recommended Plays: Wolverines +7.5 (-115)
Biggest SEC Play (3 Units)
Arkansas Razorbacks vs. No.16 Oklahoma State Cowboys
Spread: Razorbacks +7.5 (-105) | Cowboys -7.5 (-115)
Moneyline: Razorbacks +245 | Cowboys -310
Total: OVER 59.5 (-115) | UNDER 59.5 (-105)
We’re giving Sam Pittman and Co. a little too much respect here for their Week 1 victory over the Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions. Yes, dropping a 70-burger on your opponent is great, but you have to consider the level of competition you’re matched up. That will change in Week 2 for the Razorbacks as they get set to visit N0. 16 Oklahoma State. The Cowboys remained solid in Week 1, led by another dominant showing from superstar running back Ollie Gordon II. The Cowboys are going to run Gordon into the ground, and as the game progresses, it’s pretty easy to envision taking a tole on a question defensive line in Arkansas. If the Razorbacks can hold up and stack the box, we trust Alan Bowman more than Taylen Green at this stage in their respective collegiate career. Give us the home side to cover and win by double-digits.
Recommended Play: Cowboys -7.5 (-115)
