6. Kyle McCord, QB, Syracuse
Kyle McCord led Ohio State to an 11-1 record in 2023 after taking over for C.J. Stroud, but that was not good enough for the Buckeye faithful. While his stats were fine (3,000+ yards, 24 TDs), McCord didn’t seem to be the gamebreaker OSU was used to at quarterback. Syracuse is breaking in a new head coach, and having a talent like McCord leading the offense could make it a big first year for the Orange.
ACC Betting Odds: Syracuse +42
1. Cam Ward, QB, Miami (FL)
Cam Ward was the fourth-highest-ranked quarterback in the portal and could be the missing piece to take Miami to the next level in the ACC. He has made the jump from Incarnate Word to Washington State. Last season, Ward finished fourth nationally with 3,736 passing yards and 25 touchdowns. If Ward can replicate those numbers at Miami, the Hurricanes could be a dark horse for the College Football Playoff.
ACC Betting Odds: Miami (FL) +450
2. DJ Uiagalelei, QB, Florida State
DJ Uiagalelei is returning to the ACC after two years at Oregon State. Florida State will have a chip on their shoulder, as the Jordan Travis injury prevented them from playing for a national title in 2023. This move gives FSU a proven quarterback and potentially the missing piece for a title run.
ACC Betting Odds: Florida State +280
3. Roydell Williams, RB, Florida State
Roydell Williams ran for 560 yards and five touchdowns with Alabama in 2023. In his four years with the Crimson Tide, Williams scored 13 touchdowns. The Seminoles will need to replace their top running back, Trey Benson. Williams is capable of doing that.
4. Noah Rogers, WR, N.C. State
Noah Rogers was a top-40 prospect out of high school in North Carolina and played his freshman season with the Ohio State Buckeyes. He played in four games and preserved his redshirt but recorded no stats. Rogers transfers back home to N.C. State looking to live up to the potential everyone saw in high school.
ACC Betting Odds: NC State +10
5. Tyler Baron, Edge, Louisville
Tyler Baron was a highly sought-after edge rusher in this year’s portal cycle. He first committed to Ole Miss but then landed at Louisville. He made 10.5 tackles for loss for Tennessee in 2023, including six sacks. In his four years for the Volunteers, Baron made 27 tackles for loss. His presence off the edge could give Louisville the boost they need on defense to return to the ACC title game.
ACC Betting Odds: Louisville +470
