Bear Alexander committed to the Georgia Bulldogs as a five-star prospect in the 2022 recruiting class. The talented defensive lineman transferred to the USC Trojans looking for a fresh start and a bigger opportunity. However, after three games in his second season with the program, the Texas native felt it may be time for a change, yet again.
On Wednesday, it was announced that the Trojan’s defender has decided to redshirt the rest of this season and enter the transfer portal ahead of next year.

Practice with USC
“Tony Jones, whom Alexander calls his father, told ESPN that Alexander doesn’t plan to play for the rest of the season to preserve a year of eligibility," ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported.
“Alexander plans to stay with the USC team and practice", Jones said. “We made clear what our goals are. That goal is to be a full-time starter and leader on the defense like we came there to be."
The former ESPN Top-60 recruit has racked up 10 career tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks in 28 games over his tenures with the Bulldogs and Trojans.

What’s Next?
Alexander will be granted an extra year of eligibility as the NCAA Redshirt rule permits players who play four games and under to carry the year of eligibility. The six-foot-three lineman will have two years of eligibility remaining.
