Assessing Betting Line Movement for Super Wild Card Weekend

Grant White

Host · Writer

If there is an NFL script writer out there, they couldn’t have done a better job than this season. The 2024 NFL campaign was rife with intrigue from the opening kick-off until the waning moments of Week 18. Now that the playoff seeds are set, it’s time to re-assess how the betting lines have shifted for Wild Card Weekend.

Vikings vs Rams Wildcard Showdown: Predictions & Insights

Minnesota Vikings vs Los Angeles Rams

Spread: Vikings -2.5 (-108) | Rams +2.5 (-112)
Moneyline: Vikings -134 | Rams +114
Total: OVER 47.5 (-106) | UNDER 47.5 (-114)

At first glance, the betting line between the Minnesota Vikings and Los Angeles Rams remains largely unchanged. The spread and total are on the same numbers, albeit with slight movement in the price. However, bettors appear to favor the Rams to upset the Vikings outright. LA’s moneyline price has dipped from last week’s high of +128 down to +114. Don’t be surprised if the spread starts to move south later in the week.

Commanders vs Bucs Game Analysis: Odds and Predictions

Washington Commanders vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Spread: Commanders +3.5 (-110) | Buccaneers -3.5 (-110)
Moneyline: Commanders +158 | Buccaneers -188
Total: OVER 49.5 (-115) | UNDER 49.5 (-105)

There were two notable adjustments in the betting line between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Washington Commanders. Bettors have more faith in the Bucs now than last week, moving them to -2.5 favorites for their Wild Card matchup. Additionally, the price of the total has swung drastically. Last week, over 49.5 was priced at -106. Now, it’s up to -115. Favorites and overs are typically the public’s crutch.

Green Bay Packers vs Philadelphia Eagles

Spread: Packers +4.5 (-118) | Eagles -4.5 (-104)
Moneyline: Packers +180 | Eagles -215
Total: OVER 46.5 (-115) | UNDER 46.5 (-105)

This changing betting line is multi-factorial. First, Jordan Love appeared to injure his elbow in the Green Bay Packers‘ regular-season finale. Second, the Philadelphia Eagles rested all of their starters in Week 18, ensuring everyone is rested and at their best in Wild Card weekend. Finally, the Birds are a more dominant team on both sides of the football. As such, it’s unsurprising that this line has moved in favor of the Eagles.

Eagles vs Packers Game Analysis: Weather & Key Player Stats

Denver Broncos vs Buffalo Bills

Spread: Broncos +8.5 (-105) | Bills -8.5 (-115)
Moneyline: Broncos +360 | Bills -460
Total: OVER 47.5 (-110) | UNDER 47.5 (-110)

Josh Allen’s start streak is still intact but the Buffalo Bills‘ integrity is not. Still, that’s not stopping bettors from getting a piece of the Bills in their Wild Card showdown versus the Denver Broncos. While the line has remained static, the price to back the Bills, at -8.5 chalk, has jumped to -115. Likewise, there’s been no movement on the total.

Los Angeles Chargers vs Houston Texans

Spread: Chargers -2.5 (-128) | Texans +2.5 (+104)
Moneyline: Chargers -162 | Texans +136
Total: OVER 43.5 (-110) | UNDER 43.5 (-110)

Sportsbooks are doing everything they can to avoid moving this line to the key number of -3, enticing bettors with plus-money on the underdog Houston Texans at -2.5. That’s likely a sign of non-stop Los Angeles Chargers‘ money, as the Texans appear outmatched by their AFC West counterparts.

Ravens Favored by 9.5 Points Against Steelers in Key Game

Pittsburgh Steelers vs Baltimore Ravens

Spread: Steelers +9.5 (-114) | Ravens -9.5 (-106)
Moneyline: Steelers +370 | Ravens -480
Total: OVER 46.5 (-105) | UNDER 46.5 (-115)

The Pittsburgh Steelers‘ anemic offense and porous run defense have bettors flocking to the Baltimore Ravens en masse. In last week’s hypothetical offerings, the Ravens were -7.5. Now, the AFC North winners are a heftier -9.5. Given Pittsburgh’s offensive woes, it only seems appropriate that the total has come down a point.
