Bears vs. Chiefs Best Bet ATS: Bears ML

The Bears won’t be playing Caleb Williams tonight, but they still own a 3-0 record this preseason. Williams only appeared in two of those for a couple of series. It’s clear that besides him, this Bears team is playing hard, and we only expect that to be amplified even further as this will be the final test for all these guys to show why they deserve a roster. That’s not to say that the Chiefs won’t be playing hard, but they’re 0-2 this preseason, and by all accounts, they’ll be sitting everyone relevant. The Bears will be sitting plenty of starters, but we’ll trust that they will be playing to win much more than the Chiefs.

Bears vs. Chiefs Best Bet Total: OVER 32.5

Touting overs in preseason football is always dangerous, but the Bears have averaged 27 points per game across three preseason games thus far. Most glaringly, most of their offense is coming in the second half, with the guys not expected to make the roster. Following the numbers, it’s fair to expect the Bears to give us at least 21 points tonight, so we’ll put enough trust in the Chiefs to do the rest.

Bears Offensive Player To Watch: Tyson Bagent, QB

Caleb Williams exceeded expectations in each of the last two Bears preseason games, but not much has been said about his backup. The Bears went an untraditional route this summer by not signing a veteran quarterback to mentor their young rookie and instead put a ton of faith in another young arm in Tyson Bagent. Reports out of the Bears’ camp have been good surrounding Bagent, but seeing him take the reins fully tonight for the first half will be interesting. It will be interesting to see what the Bears have in Bagent should Williams, unfortunately, miss a game.

Bears Defensive Player to Watch: Austin Booker, DE

The Bears’ defense is a work in progress, especially on the defensive line with few proven commodities. Outside of Montez Sweat, a ton of snaps are up for grabs, and rookie Austin Booker is a prime candidate to see a ton of action immediately. The fifth-round pick has been one of the Bears’ many bright spots this summer, so he’ll have a final chance tonight to show why he deserves a significant role on this defense right away.

Chiefs Offensive Player to Watch: Carson Steele, RB/FB

The Chiefs have a knack for finding random guys and turning them into contributors right away, and it looks like they did just that again with rookie back Carson Steele. The undrafted rookie out of UCLA has been one of the talks of Chiefs camp thus far, as the technically listed fullback has shown some unexpected explosiveness both as a running back and as a pass-catcher. Andy Reid loves to get creative with plays for some of his lesser-known players, and he may have found a prime candidate to build some plays around. Plus, we’ll want to bet on Steele’s anytime TD prop in multiple prime-time games this season.

Chiefs Defensive Player to Watch: All Cornerbacks

The Chiefs’ defense last year was the best that Patrick Mahomes has had in Kansas City, but they traded away L’Jarius Sneed this summer, and it feels like no one has been discussing the hole he leaves behind. Steve Spagnuolo has openly stated that the competition is wide open, and there is not necessarily any clear frontrunner to take the starting position currently, as the secondary has dealt with many injuries this summer. It will be interesting to see who ultimately takes the field tonight in the secondary, but be on the lookout for guys like Jaylen Watson, Nazeeh Johnson, Joshua Williams, and Keith Taylor
