The Seattle Seahawks and Cleveland Browns are looking to reassert themselves as championship contenders; however, neither franchise has a recent track record of delivering proven results. That makes Saturday’s inter-conference tilt all the more important as the Seahawks and Browns look to make the final roster adjustments to propel themselves over the hump. Seattle enters as short home underdogs, but expect that line to shift ahead of kickoff.

Browns vs. Seahawks NFL Best Bet ATS: Seahawks +1.5
The betting market has taken an early stance on the Browns, but that confidence might be slightly misplaced. Head coach Kevin Stefanski is on the record stating that Cleveland’s starters will get some reps on Saturday night, an assurance not yet offered by Mike Macdonald. Still, the Seahawks have been busy testing NFL-tested players this postseason and have the added advantage of playing behind the Seattle faithful. Even with the Browns starters playing a drive or two, Seattle has an advantage from start to finish in this game.
Browns vs. Seahawks NFL Best Bet Total: Over 36.5
The Seahawks have split a pair of games so far this preseason, but their scoring does not yet match their offensive production. Through two games, Seattle has totaled 31 total points while accumulating 325 yards against the Los Angeles Chargers, albeit with a slightly less impressive 239 versus the Tennessee Titans. Likewise, the Browns haven’t scored more than 12 points in either of their first two games despite going off for a total of 532 yards. Both teams could see a marginal increase in output, which should be enough to send this game over the total.
Browns Offensive Player To Watch: D’Onta Foreman, RB
With Nick Chubb starting the season on the PUP list, there’s a pressing need to figure out the pecking order in the Browns’ backfield. Jerome Ford will be the de facto primary running back to start the season, but a handful of other players are looking to crack Cleveland’s 53-man roster. Pierre Strong is dealing with an injury, necessitating more involvement from D’Onta Foreman. The journeyman running back toted the ball ten times for just 18 yards last week but could earn a more prominent role to start the campaign. His effort on Saturday will be a factor in Foreman’s role with the team moving forward.
Browns Defensive Player to Watch: Quinton Jefferson, DL
Bouncing between teams to start his career, Quinton Jefferson has failed to set up roots anywhere in the NFL. However, with Dalvin Tomlinson on the PUP list and questionable to return for Week 1, Jefferson could emerge as a primary option with a strong showing against the Seahawks. Embracing the role of mentor among the younger players on the team, Jefferson needs to let some of his work during the game do the talking. Tomlinson was a marquee signee this offseason, meaning Jefferson must deliver more tangible on-field results, starting in Saturday’s showdown against his former club.
Seahawks Offensive Player to Watch: Sam Howell, QB
Decidedly, Geno Smith is the undisputed leader of the Seahawks offense, but there’s still a decision to be made regarding his backup. Sam Howell and P.J. Walker have split the first two preseason games, with Howell earning the lion’s share of snaps. The former Washington Commander has earned praise for his performance this preseason despite appearing below-average against inferior competition. Howell has outpaced Walker in snaps and will have one last opportunity to demonstrate his value against the Browns. One way or another, a quarterback controversy awaits the Seahawks, but Howell’s performance on Saturday night will go a long way in determining his future with the franchise.
Seahawks Defensive Player to Watch: Byron Murphy II, DL
The Seahawks thought they were getting someone to pick up the defensive line slack when they drafted Byron Murphy in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft. Murphy could be relegated to playing backup to Jarran Reed to open the season, but that depends largely on his ability to perform in the preseason finale. Thus far, Murphy has failed to make an impact with his new team, but we’re expecting him to have plenty of chances to flex his muscles against the Browns. If things go well, he could shoehorn himself into a starter’s role; otherwise, he appears destined for a supporting role to begin his NFL career.
