Buffalo Bills: A
Josh Allen and the Bills were playing from behind nearly the entire night on Sunday, but when it mattered most, they came back to win an instant classic over the Ravens. The only reason they don’t get an A+ is that they gave up 40 points.
Kansas City Chiefs: B-
After losing Xavier Worthy on the first drive, the passing game took a long time to get going, the running game was non-existent, and their defense gave up 27 points. Not a great first week for the Chiefs.
Los Angeles Chargers: A
Their offense looked great; Justin Herbert outplayed Patrick Mahomes, the run game got going early, and Quentin Johnston stepped up with two TD catches. This is the type of effort that can set the Chargers up for success this year.
Pittsburgh Steelers: B+
The only reason they don’t get a higher grade is that they allowed far too many points. This a supposed to be a defense-first team, and allowing 32 points is awful. The offense was excellent, though, led by Aaron Rodgers and his 4 TD passes.
New York Jets: B
The offense looked great in this one, which is surprising because they went up against a solid Steelers D. Furthermore, Justin Fields, who not many people had faith in, put together an excellent game and led his team to 32 points.
Jacksonville Jaguars: B+
The offense was efficient, and Travis Etienne was able to establish himself as the lead back in the offense. The defense looked much improved from a year ago as well.
Miami Dolphins: F
The Dolphins looked horrible. They didn’t do anything well, and it looks like it could be a long season in South Beach.
Indianapolis Colts: A+
Daniel Jones looked terrific, as did Michael Pittman and Tyler Warren. The defense forces a bunch of turnovers, and the Colts had one of the strongest performances of the week because of it.
Cleveland Browns: C-
They only lost this game by one point and held down a good offense. Overall, though, if they can only score 16 points against a weak defense, it’s not going to be a successful season.
Las Vegas Raiders: B-
They got a strong performance from their new QB, Geno Smith, and were able to go on the road to New England and come away with the victory.
New England Patriots: C
Drake Maye played okay, and the defense wasn’t bad, but overall, they didn’t do anything well and couldn’t generate enough offense to win this game.
Tennessee Titans: C-
They stuck around in this game for 60 minutes, which is surprising. Cam Ward looked overwhelmed and outmatched, and his offensive line did him no favors.
Denver Broncos: B-
The defense was fantastic, but the offense really underwhelmed. They should have run away with this game, but didn’t, which is why they only get a B- grade.
Houston Texans: B-
The defense looked great and kept them in the game, but the running game took too long to get rolling, and the new and improved offensive line wasn’t all that improved. C.J. Stroud was running for his life most of the game.
