The 5 Most Overpriced Super Bowl Contenders For 2025

Kansas City Chiefs
2025-26 Super Bowl Odds: +650
This year's runner-ups enter next season as the odds-on favorite to win it all. Given what we saw from this team all season, we're willing to take a firm stance against the Chiefs next year.
There are a lot of things that Chiefs' believers will point to. They had the best record in the league, made their third straight Super Bowl, and fifth championship game in six years. But the reality of their success starkly contrasts their outcomes. Kansas City benefitted from officiating calls all season, needing several team-friendly calls to propel them into the Super Bowl. Moreover, they weren't that good on either side of the football. The Chiefs ended the season with the 19th-ranked total offense and the tenth-ranked total defense.
Many of those one-score games could have gone in either direction. Further, the Chiefs' offense struggled mightily in the playoffs. We're not betting on a bounce-back campaign from KC. We think this signals the end of their once-proud dynasty.

Buffalo Bills
2025-26 Super Bowl Odds: +700
Even for Buffalo Bills fans, it's too early to start lighting your money on fire. No team has underachieved more than the Bills in the playoffs, making it hard to rationalize their current betting price.
Josh Allen and solid offensive metrics propped up the Bills' AFC Championship run, but defensive concerns still hamper the team's outlook. By the end of the 2024 season, Buffalo ranked 16th in total defense and 12th in scoring defense. If defense wins championships, clearly, the Bills have their work cut out for them next season.
Of course, Buffalo's struggles tie directly into the Chiefs' postseason proficiency. Still, it's not worth betting that next year will be the magical season when everything comes together for the Bills.
San Francisco 49ers
2025-26 Super Bowl Odds: +1700
We will concede that this year was a bit of an anomaly for the San Francisco 49ers. But given the state of their team, they aren't worth the +1700 price you have to pay to back them in next year's Super Bowl.
Injuries are a prevailing concern for the Niners. Christian McCaffrey's absence hurt them most this season, but he doesn't have the best reputation for staying healthy. Since 2020, he's played more than ten games in a season only twice.
We saw how much McCaffrey meant to the 49ers offense this past season. And if other injuries pop up, as they typically do, San Francisco is doomed for another year of regrettable football.

Baltimore Ravens
2025-26 Super Bowl Odds: +700
It's a temptingly gratifying thought experiment to think about how great next year's Baltimore Ravens team will be. However, a couple of concerns are worth factoring into their Super Bowl odds.
First, we're not expecting Derrick Henry to replicate his success this year. The former All-Pro nearly set career-highs in rushing yards and touchdowns, falling 106 and one touchdown short in his age-30 season. Now 31, Henry is well past his most productive years as a running back.
Second, defensive consistency plagued this team at the start of the year. Five of the first ten teams they faced managed more than 400 yards against the Ravens. While they figured it out by the end of the season, those vulnerabilities should be front of mind for any team looking to back the Ravens in next year's Super Bowl.
Philadelphia Eagles
2025-26 Super Bowl Odds: +700
Enjoy your party, Philadelphia Eagles. But know that your odds for Super Bowl LX are too inflated.
This phenomenon isn't unique to the Eagles or football. It's a pretty commonly held trend among all sports. The competing teams in the current year's championship often open at the top of next year's futures board. However, running it back has become a less common occurrence. Other than the Kansas City Chiefs in the two preceding years, it's been two decades since the last time we saw it.
Some roster moves over the coming months will impact those unfair expectations. Philadelphia doesn't have the cap space to bring everyone back, meaning some key defensive stalwarts will have to find new homes. This will be an offseason of change for the Eagles, and they're undeserving of their current price.
