Winners & Losers of 2024 NFL Trade Deadline: Chiefs Win Big

Loser: Miami Dolphins
The Miami Dolphins (2-6 overall) sat out this year's trade deadline completely, neither adding or moving any players. With Tua Tagovailoa back, they've got their passing game going again, but their protection issues are too noticeable, and their defense seems to be headed in the wrong direction. I believe Miami is considered a trade deadline loser due to not selling.

Winner: Kansas City Chiefs
The Kansas City Chiefs are the big winners in this trade deadline. They are a perfect 8-0 without the talent of Marquise Brown, JuJu Smith-Schuster, and Rashee Rice. They decided to make a move by acquiring veteran wideout DeAndre Hopkins, who has had immediate chemistry with Patrick Mahomes.
Loser: Dallas Cowboys
Things aren't looking too bright for the Dallas Cowboys, who paid a heavy price for wide receiver Jonathan Mingo despite being without their starting quarterback, Dak Prescott, for the foreseeable future. The Cowboys (3-5 overall) have had a rough stretch lately, losing their third straight game this past Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons.
Winner: Pittsburgh Steelers
The Pittsburgh Steelers (6-2 overall) are first in the AFC North. By acquiring Mike Williams for a fifth-round pick, the offense has some depth at the wideout position, which will undoubtedly help George Pickens and Russell Wilson. They also added pass rusher Preston Smith from Green Bay for a seventh-round pick.
Loser: New Orleans Saints
Not only did the New Orleans Saints (2-7 overall) lose to the Carolina Panthers this past weekend, but they also traded away four-time Pro Bowl CB Marshon Lattimore to the Washington Commanders. Although the Saints got some picks in return, things are seemingly turning to a rebuild now.
Winner: Detroit Lions
Fans were eager to see what the Detroit Lions had under the sleeve at this year's trade deadline. The Lions (7-1 overall) sit comfortably atop the NFC North, and with pass rusher Aidan Hutchinson out for the season, they decided to acquire Za'Darius Smith from the Cleveland Browns. This deal is low-cost, high-reward, and a win in my book.
Loser: San Francisco 49ers
The San Francisco 49ers (4-4 overall) had a quiet deadline, acquiring just Khalil Davis from the Houston Texans but missing out on the big names in the market. They have had to deal with quite some injuries this season, playing without running back Christian McCaffrey and wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk. Who knows what's next for the 49ers, but I'm not sure they did enough to get back to the Super Bowl.
Winner: Minnesota Vikings
I give the Minnesota Vikings (6-2 overall) a win at this year's trade deadline due to their acquisition of running back Cam Akers, who will share touches with Aaron Jones. They also replaced injured left tackle Christian Darrisaw with former Jaguars starter Cam Robinson.
