Panthers vs Oilers: Stanley Cup Final Game 2 Same Game Parlay

Leg 1: Oilers -115

Where to Watch Florida Panthers vs. Edmonton Oilers

  • Arena: Rogers Place
  • Location: Edmonton, AB
  • Where to Watch: SNET, TNT, truTV
  • Time: 8:00 p.m. ET
  • Spread: EDM -1.5 | Total: 6.5
  • Moneyline: EDM -115 | FLA -105

The series opener was a see-saw battle between the best the NHL had to offer. The Oilers jumped out to an early lead, which the Panthers quickly erased. The Western Conference Champions would go on to mount a third-period comeback, eventually winning in overtime. We’re betting on a repeat of the Oilers’ performance in Game 2.

Although the action was evenly split, several factors suggest a renewed success for the hosts. First, Edmonton’s last change was crucial in setting its stars up for success. Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid saw a healthy amount of offensive zone time, accumulating a combined four points on eight shots.

More importantly, they weren’t the only Oilers doing damage in the Panthers’ end. Edmonton out-chanced their Eastern Conference rivals 15-12 in high-danger chances and out-shot them 37-30 at five-on-five. More importantly, that translated to a 3-2 scoring advantage for Edmonton, a trend that has persisted for the Oilers in eight straight games.

The Oilers’ advantage on home ice is more pronounced than the betting line implies. On that basis, we can’t overlook their value as short home favorites in Game 2.

Leg 2: Leon Draisaitl to Record 2+ Points +110

Connor McDavid continues to get all of the limelight in Edmonton, but count us as cheer captains of the Leon Draisaitl parade. The German forward has been a wrecking ball in the postseason and should be able to continue his string of elite performances.

Objectively, Draisaitl has outperformed McDavid in the playoffs. Drai outpaces the Oilers captain in high-danger chances, yielding a superior expected goals-for rating. Moreover, Draisaitl has done so while playing with inferior wingers.

Further, Draisaitl has been on an unstoppable run. The former Hart Trophy winner has two points in three straight, a stretch that includes seven shots on goal and an average of over 22 minutes of ice-time per game. As we saw in Game 1, the Oilers continue to deploy Draisaitl in the attacking zone every chance they get.

Assuredly, Draisaitl will factor in on the scoring in tonight’s pivotal Game 2. At +110, he’s worth backing to continue his hot streak and record two or more points.

Leg 3: Ryan Nugent-Hopkins Any Time Goal Scorer +275

Depth scoring has been one of the Oilers’ biggest flexes in the postseason. Still, there’s one player who continues to fall below expected levels.

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins remains one of Edmonton’s most underappreciated assets. The former first-overall selection plays across all strengths, while oscillating between lines; nevertheless, his analytics profile points toward an increase in scoring.

Heading into Game 2, Nuge continues to operate below his expected goals-for total. He ranks in the top five in virtually every offensive category, but his 25 on-ice goals are below his expected total of 26.2. Moreover, Nugent-Hopkins has been at his best most recently. He has 12 shots across his last four games, recording at least three in all but one of those contests.

All signs point toward an increase in output from Nugent-Hopkins. There is undeniable value in betting that the ascent starts on Friday night. We’re including Nuge as an any time goal scorer as the final leg of our Same Game Parlay.

Panthers vs Oilers: Stanley Cup Final Game 2 Same Game Parlay: Oilers -115, Leon Draisaitl to Record 2+ Points +110, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins Any Time Goal Scorer +275 (+570)

This correlated approach could yield bettors a profit of +570 on their investment. We’re backing the Oilers to win, with Draisaitl recording two points and Nugent-Hopkins finding the back of the net.
